It Gets The Job Done, And Lasts A Good While. — Likes: Handles fairly well, has a comfortable, smooth ride, and has been running for nearly 10 years now. Dislikes: Even with a V6 under the hood, the engine pushes out too little power, but when I tell it to push, it does just that. Performance: Not the fastest, but it gets the job done. Brakes are decent for the car, and handling is perfectly fine. Build Quality: Only recently last year has the transmission died, and had to have been replaced. The engine however, runs fine. Appearance: It's an old Sonata... It's bland. Cost of Ownership: Not much maintenance is needed, and gas mileage is decent. Fun Factor: Not really, no. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Tainted On Hyundai's :( — My Oldsmobile had 150,000 miles on it so my parents wanted to buy me a car that was more reliable. Bought this Sonata and only had 27,000 miles on it, plus a great 100,000 mile warranty. Little did I know how "MUCH" I'd be using this warranty. Had it three months .. broke down in THE MIDDLE of the road. (No warning whatsoever) Timing belt had broken, plus two additional MAJOR things. (Can't remember) Was in the shop for a week. No longer than I had it back and was feeling secure the same thing happened AGAIN! Right in the middle of the road. (Again no waning) This time there was "arking?" under the hood. Had to have it towed in. Again, one week. Then ... the power windows (both) began to "stay" down and wouldn't shut. Since then I've had one small thing after another. I wouldn't own another Hyundai. It struggles for power at a stop and always has. I should have kept my Olds. Bought it at an auction for $3,500, kept it for 6 years and the only thing that was 'ever' replaced on it was an alternator and a starter. If you plan on buying this vehicle, better think twice. Maybe I just got a dud. Lol Primary Use: Family transportation | ||

Boring But Average — The performance is forgettable, the fuel economy is nothing to write home about, repairs are expensive but mercifully infrequent, the styling is a cross between a bug and that car you forget, and it is very little fund to drive. I like it. Why? Because I have driven it between 97,000 KM and 170,000 km with virtually no problems not stemming from wear parts like breaks, shocks, ball joints and the timing belt. |
