2001 Dodge Stratus SE Coupe Review
ProsUnique styling interior and exterior, decent city-mpg, premium sound system maintains quality, large trunk area, collapsible rear seats, nice set of options (sunroof, spoiler, etc), rear cup holders, lockable glove box, padded center console arm rest, strong rear bumper ConsLimited selection of aftermarket parts, coupe dashboards very fragile, difficult and expensive to tint rear window, difficult to remove dashboard or other interior parts, front bumper too low

Unique Alternative To An Eclipse Or Sebring Without Compromising Engine, Handling, Or Design. — The 3.0 liter V6 Stratus coupe has a Mistubishi engine and shares a platform with the Eclipse. It has a decent acceleration but I would recommend a manual transmission if possible. The Stratus has a unique interior and exterior styling which makes it stand out against similar competing models but also make sit difficult to find many aftermarket or replacement parts. The two-door has a large trunk space and a comfortable amount of rear-passenger leg room. Bucket seats make the Stratus feel lower than other two-door cars and the fabric is easy to clean and very durable.

ProsFun, once you get it going, very roomy inside. ConsPoor gas mileage and power due to the massive weight and tiny engine.

I Drive A Dodge Stratus! — This car has been great to own. I would say performance wise, the 4-cylinder engine is lacking in horsepower especially for the enormous weight. I believe it started life with 110 hp, but quite a few horses have escaped the corral. Fuel economy suffers because of this lack of power since it takes too long to get up to speed. However, it is fun to drive and I have taken it around the bends at....good enough speed. I've never had a problem with the braking, but I also have found that I like the brakes a little on the loose side. Overall, as far as a 4-door sedan is concerned, I love driving this car.

Proscheap Consnot too exciting

Cheap Economical Everyday Driver — Its cheap, but has enough power to drive normally. Parts are inexpensive and gas mileage is decent with 28 or so. Its fairly reliable for a dodge and isnt too bad to drive. the suspension is too loose and steering is just OK.

Prosfast 0-60 Cons4spd auto w/sportshift, brakes are weak

Built For Speed — The 4spd transmission is not as fun to drive as the 5spd manual but it still does the job. the car is very quick on acceleration and handles well at high speeds. The Venom chip makes it difficult for regular driving, just tapping the gas, the car wants to go.

Prosspacious, looks nice, great seating, interior is stylish. Consslugish needs more power.

Great Car Needs A Bigger Engine — the car as far as space is great, lots of leg room, handles great, its a good solid feel. the only downfall is that its a little slugish. All of the four cylinders need to have a 3.0 v6 put in then you would have an all around great car. ProsBrand new brakes, reliable, comfortable seats, A/C, new seat covers, new mirrors ConsDriver side widow doesn't go down, small dents/scratches(nothing major), only two doors

Reliable "first Car" — I liked this car initially because of how it looked, it runs good, and has always been reliable for me. I didn't like that I had to fix so many things over the period of owning it, such as fixing the A/C, buying new tires, and replacing the brakes, but I guess that goes for a lot of cars. Overall, it has been a good car to me. I would like to keep it, because it was my first car ever, but I need a car with more space and 4 doors. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Great Little Race Car For The Money... — Crumple zones and airbags work well in a front end collision. Brakes could have performed better to avoid said collision, but you can't win 'em all. This car is a blast to drive, and handled like it was on rails. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Everyone Comments On My Car. Never Seen Before, Looks Like New. — This car drives no different than the 1st day I drove her off the lot. This car is quick, handles like a dream and is fun to drive! I have kept this car garaged since I purchased it new. I have kept all scheduled maintenance on car. My Stratus looks like brand new, I turn heads when ever I am out on the road. The gas milage is unbelievable for a high powered engine. 30 to 33 miles freeway and 26-28 in town. Primary Use: Family transportation |
