ProsRide, handling, power, reliability, interior fit-and-finish, capability, value ConsBlind spot due to size of A-pillar

2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 Slt — The truck has decent power, a very good ride for a pickup, and impressive interior quality for a Chrysler product and year. It will tow just about anything you can hook to it, but that sends the fuel level needle down pretty quickly. The gas mileage isn't bad for a pickup--about 16 around town and lower 20s on the highway. Maintenance is easy. It's capable as a true work truck or hauling around 5 or 6 people. I would readily buy another. The 4.7L V8 is smooth and refined with good power.

ProsEverything ConsMilage, engine size

2001 Dakota — I love everything about my truck besides the gas mileage. However this is my first truck so I compare mileage to a car. And I wish it was a V8 instead of the V6. It performs well but could definatly do better with more power.

2001 Dodge Dakota — Lets see, what I like is that it has been very dependable. Looks sharp. I get about 18 to 20 mpg. Not bad for a truck...the V-6 is a little under powered. The crew cab has a full bench back seat. Ford and Chevy's small trucks didn't have.

ProsA midsize truck with a V8, Great if you don't need to pull a lot but want more power then a v6. Also a great vehicle if you are looking for a vehicle for your highschooler to drive. Or if you just need a truck and don't want to spend a lot. ConsIt does have some rust and dents

Pros5 speed manual with a v6. Decent fuel economy ConsSits to low to the ground for me but don't want to buy a lift or leveling kit. And not four wheel drive

Good, Reliable Truck — The acceleration is great in this truck. It has a V6 with a 5 speed manual in it and it gets up and goes pretty quick. Its really fun to drive, but I've had to replace several things on it because the used dealership that we got it from said everything is ok in it, but it wasn't. Had to replace the brakes, two tires, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, coolant, and windshield wipers. Overall, a good truck. Transmission is great in it and engine runs good. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

If You're Looking For Something Unique With Power Give This A Try! — The Dakota R/T's performance is awesome for the small truck with a large motor concept. Dodge uses the same 5.9l in the Ram and shoves it into this midsize truck. Being smaller and closer to the ground also gives it amazing handling for such a small truck. Mind you, the single cabs are more maneuverable with the handling and the braking system on these trucks is perfect. You will use some gas but as they also say "haul ass". I use this truck as a weekend driver and as a performance vehicle as I'm always adding something to it. These motors are forever on performance parts. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
