A Real Bargain, Great For Road Trips And Hauling Things, Reliable As The Tides — as far as a big, gas guzzlin', road hoggin' V8 roarin' SUV goes, it's the most civilized truck you can get, everything works the way you want it to. Especially the door handles which are by far my favorite feature, everything is ergonomically designed, including the gear shift which, in drive, provides a perfect place to rest your hand while selecting a radio station or cd track. due to the technology of the time you get a cd player and tape deck, plus the standard am/fm radio with 9 fm presets and 6 am presets. as far as build quality goes, honestly it could be better, the air filled shocks in the rear wear out quickly and the high-tech air conditioning system seems prone to gremlins, but if you really don't care about the luxury options, it's a good tough truck, extremely useful for towing and long road trips.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Good vehicle for about anything, tough

Cons

Expensive to gas up

Best Multipurpose Vehicle On The Road — Very solid truck. Has the 5.3L Vortec with a 4L60E and 4X4, provides enough power for about anything without hurting gas mileage too much (20 MPG highway 12 city and 17 combined). Tows and hauls about anything, great on snow/ice and decent off road, has had 200k miles free from any major repairs other than typical wear parts and normal maintenance. Has gone all across the country without any trouble. Has all the features on the interior you want (leather, audio system, versatility). It's built on the Silverado 1/2 ton platform so it has durable powertrain components and running gear. I use it to do everything; commuting, towing the boat, road trips, off roading, and hauling people and cargo around.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

2001 Burb — Awesome truck. Runs hard on gravel every day, tows trailers, and hauls anything i need it to. Great in snow, had it in snow so deep to get home that it went over the hood. Been in my family for years, bought it for $3500 off my mom. Has 165,000 miles on it and never replaced a major part due to good maintenance. Its got the 5.3 with a 4L60E 4X4, strong performance and towing. Has the commercial HD stuff on it. gets about 18 mpg with usual driving, had it up to 21 on the highway at 60 mph. It's got a great interior with comfortable seats, a good stereo and nice amenities. It runs great, lasts a long time with proper maintenance. Would definately get another.

Great For Long Distace Travel I.e. Across Several States Also For Towing — its comfortable o the high way, can tow heavy loads long distances with ease, fits 7 adults comfortably, very safe, good looking car, can hold a lot of stuff inside the lift gate i.e. suit cases for travel and such

Suburban For The Road — I bought the 2001 Suburban used as a road trip car. Perfect choice for this purpose. It has more room than most families of 4 could conceivably use but comes in handy for the times when you need suitcases, dogs, and whatever else. Gas is expensive but no surprise there.

Pros

Love the front seats with arm rest.  Great for long trips.  Our Suburban has been very realiable

Cons

Only major negative has been issues with the second row captains seats fold down mechanism.  Other trim items have been a hastle, clips and such coming loose.  Door creaks

Overall We Would By Another Brand New 2001 But Not The New 2011 — Our 2001 has been super reliable. We have taken several long trips and this is a comfortable ride. We have also used the truck extensivly to feary all type of building and garden supplies. Always seems to have enough room

Suburban - Family Hauler — This is a great truck for hauling people and gear. The engine is strong enough to take you up the steepest mountain roads and it performs well in all weather, snow, ice, and extreme heat. The truck is very solid and does not have any rattles or sqeaks. The black on gray color combination is very striking and it still looks great at 10 years old. Maintenance has been very reasonable for this truck.

I Would Build It If I Had The Money — its a beast...no matter what i do it keeps moving...and torque wins all day. 5.3 liter with tow haul on will burn rubber or slide for half a block in the wet...drift suburban??well see soon enough

I Feell Pretty Big On It — pretty good acceleration... through years it has gone to the shop several times, but not for serious damage. I have taken it off road and it handles pretty well to be stock but I think it would perform better with a nice lift kit.
