Pros

Amazingly comfortable and pleasure to drive on long trips

Cons

Heavy, slides in snow/ice a bit more than I'd expect. Gas mileage is poor. Things slowly failing over time.

A Great Investment As A Third Family Car — We bought this car in 2009 with 101k miles on it. It's got 180 now and we've done little to it. The AC didn't work when we got it and the rear struts needed replacing. The car has worked great over the years, and overall it's been a reliable, dependable family vehicle for trips. Things have slowly broken down, but it's still a good vehicle in limited use. Quite impressed with GM on this one.

Powerful — We like everything about this truck and has come in handy in so many ways all year round. Powerful 2500 ton gets it done. Even if you have to pull other half slingers (1500) out of the ditch in the winter. Which is funny. You do not see many 2500 ton suburban around.!

Pros

back seats fold & tumble forward, with the 3rd row removed you can load it like a pick up truck with 4 x 8 sheets of plywood. With 3rd row fold you can still load but limited and harder.

Cons

3rd row seat must be removed to take benefit of all the cargo room.

Out Performs The Expedition — The ride is great, smooth, powerful, good braking and responsive steering. The seats are as or more supportive than anything out there. MPG pretty steady at 13/18. Nice factory radio and OnStar. This '01 replaced our '04 Expedition. The Suburban bests it all around except for Expedition's 2nd and 3rd row fold flat seats; really miss that! But would never go back.

Pros

Excellent family car, Chevy suburban just been nominated in one of the reliable car with smooth long life till 200,000 miles. It has been ranked #3.

Cons

There's only one thing which I'd mention in this area is Fuel consumption. Chevy Suburban..people call it a Gas Hog which is fine because 5.3 ltr V8 engine. You can't expect a gas mileage like small Honda Civic :-)

Strong And Reliable In Any Weather Condition. — I like overall almost everything, capacity, features, engine power n all. What I don't like is just Gas mileage is a lot because it's a big V8 engine. Other than Gas its a pretty good car for any small or big family.

225,000 Miles And Counting — Love this vehicle and mechanics tell me since I've changed the oil religiously, it should run for another 250,000 miles. Overall you cannot beat this car for value and reliability. Great tow vehicle and family vacation vehicle. I will buy another Suburban someday.

A Real Bargain, Great For Road Trips And Hauling Things, Reliable As The Tides — as far as a big, gas guzzlin', road hoggin' V8 roarin' SUV goes, it's the most civilized truck you can get, everything works the way you want it to. Especially the door handles which are by far my favorite feature, everything is ergonomically designed, including the gear shift which, in drive, provides a perfect place to rest your hand while selecting a radio station or cd track. due to the technology of the time you get a cd player and tape deck, plus the standard am/fm radio with 9 fm presets and 6 am presets. as far as build quality goes, honestly it could be better, the air filled shocks in the rear wear out quickly and the high-tech air conditioning system seems prone to gremlins, but if you really don't care about the luxury options, it's a good tough truck, extremely useful for towing and long road trips.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Kansas — I have always owned a Truck and this was my first suburban. I am Sold!! I have replaced this one with a newer one and will probably always drive a suburban from now on. I think it is the best all around vehicle made.

The 'burb — I love my Suburban. The interior space is versatile and roomy. I've had a whole bedroom set (minus the boxspring and mattress) in it. It also handles great in the rain and snow. This is a must-have rig when traveling any kind of distance.

Pros

Love the front seats with arm rest.  Great for long trips.  Our Suburban has been very realiable

Cons

Only major negative has been issues with the second row captains seats fold down mechanism.  Other trim items have been a hastle, clips and such coming loose.  Door creaks

Overall We Would By Another Brand New 2001 But Not The New 2011 — Our 2001 has been super reliable. We have taken several long trips and this is a comfortable ride. We have also used the truck extensively to ferry all type of building and garden supplies. Always seems to have enough room. Our Suburban has just turned 191,000 miles and still running strong. No fluid leaks or transmission problems.
