2001 Chevrolet Blazer 2 Dr LS 4WD SUV Review
ProsGreat truck in the snow. It has a higher ride because of the z71 package. ConsFront end tears through suspension because of oversized wheels.

Great Untill 120,000 — It is a stylish s.u.v. with some nice options...ie power everything and moonroof. Maintenance was fairly routine until 120,000 since then its been a rebuild. Transmission, fuel pump, radiator, control arms, struts, the list goes on. Im fairly happy but at 155000 im ready to move on.

ProsPowerful, fun, dependable ConsNONE!!!!

Good, Reliable Suv — I love my Blazer! It is awesome! I bought it on April 16, 2009 with 114,000 miles and it now has 137,000 and have only had a problem once(fuel pump went out in Arkansas)! I have done a lot of personalizing on it:leather seat covers, wood dash kit, steering wheel cover, dash cover, new floor mats, custom headlights and front turn signals(not shown in picture), side window vents, fender vents, taillight trim, etc. My Blazer rides pretty well for an SUV, pulls up to 4000 pounds, runs strong, handles well, has pretty good acceleration, and gets decent mpg. Some things I do not like about it: no four wheel drive, 2 doors, lot of plastic(rattles on rough roads), sloped rear window(cuts into cargo space). It does not require much maintenance, just change the oil and check the fluids and such. Main cost is the fuel, it gets lower 20's on the highway and upper teens in town. Not a good city car. Likes open road! AMEN! Some things I would like to do to it in include a grill guard, running boards, rims off an upper model four door Blazer, and possibly a better quality wood dash kit. I would definetly recommend a Chevy Blazer, good build quality, reliable, powerful, and fun to drive(especially in the country). Would recommend the four door model over the two door. Rear access can be ackward and leg room is a little tight for really tall people( I am 6'2" and it is just right).Overall the Blazer is a great vehicle and I am a proud owner!

2001 Chevrolet Blazer 2 Dr Xtreme SUV Review
ProsThe most reliable car I have ever driven, and worth every penny and more for what I purchase it for! ConsNot one at all!

Chevy Did Their Homework Putting The Extreme Together. Major Props! — I bought my Extreme in 2001 brand new, and have not had 1 major problem. So when I paid it off in 2005, there was no reason to purchase another car. After saying all the money from no car-payments, and miles of road-trips to California. I fell in love with it all over again. It was worth every penny to rebuild, and upgrade the Vortex engine. It still has the original paint job, and the interior is flawless. My Exreme looks better then it did when I bought it brand new.To all the Camero's and Mustangs lovers (which you see every 3-5 cars), Don't come close to all the looks and compliments I get everyday rolling my ride. It is the last car I will purchase in a very long time, and with less then 20,000 miles on the rebuilt engine.I have no worries what so ever it will roll another 100,000 before I put it in the garage where it will sit until the day I die. NO WAY IN HELL..THERE IS NO SALE! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Get The New Trailblazer Instead. — Had a decently powerful 4.3L V6 engine, but it ran rough. Gas mileage was terrible for a V6. Rarely got over 18-20mpg even being nice to it on the highway. Spent more in repairs and maintenance over the course of the year than the payment and insurance. Noisy interior. Door panels, and nearly everything else plastic rattles like crazy. Braking was impressive. After getting new Higher Performance shocks, ride was more acceptable. 4WD was useless at times, my front wheel drive Grand Prix has made it through more than the Blazer, with ease. ProsPowerful Consit sounds like its falling apart

Chevrolet Blazer Zr2 — Braking is wonderful, no major repairs needed, sounds like the interior is falling apart when you hit bumps. Doesn't cost that much to drive! This vehicle is the most fun car to drive in the world! Plan on keeping it Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros4WD ConsMPG vs the saturn

2001 Chevy Blazer — sooooo much easier to mud-bog with over the saturn.... :). It's a little slower than the saturn on pickup, but I enjoy having those 2 extra cylinders. Can't wait to use the 4WD this winter. Plus now I've got my sunroof! Primary Use: Commuting to work

My Blazer — acceleration? its a blazer quality is amazing, its a chevy. it handles really well in snow and off road. the gas mileage is horrible, but it is worth is to carry stuff around in. fun factor... its not too much fun on the road, but when you take in offroad its a blast.

ProsEnough Space and great 4X4 ConsReliability after 100K
45
Blazer — Four Wheel Drive is the best I have ever owned. The size vs. Economy is great. I can tow just about anything I need with the 4.3L and still get 20MPG on the HWY (not towing). The bad side is the acceleration is pretty pathetic, and the same ergonomics chevrolet is always critisized of. You would think Chevrolet could some day get their power windows right after 10 years of premature failure. Great car 0-100,000 miles, then sell, sell, sell! |
