Audi Tt Quattro 225 Roadster — Great car for the money and the entertainment. this is the 3rd audi i have owned. It is also the first Quattro i have owned. I wil say that the TT Drop top is a way better built car than the Audi 90 Cabriolet i used to own. The acceleration is good. Could be a little fatser, But i spose that what chips are for. This car handles like nothing else i have ever drivin. it inspires confidence. This is not the car for someone who does not like attention. People at the gas station just stare and ask what it is. For a 12 year old car People think it is only a couple years old and cost me a fortune.....

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

AWD Handling
Spark plugs insanely easy to get to and replace
Convertable top doesnt take up any trunk space
Great gas mileage
Its a german roadster

Cons

Paint wear and chips
Windshield chips - very small
Damn fasteners under the engine are so frustrating
Most all mods have to be imported from England

Unique, Power When You Need It, And Just A Fun Car To Drive. — One word sums up the whole car - unique. The interior styling makes it feel far more expensive than it really is. Controls are within easy reach. The leather trim is nice, but the door handles are made out of a material that you can easily scratch. Aluminum trim a nice touch. AWD on the quattro is great when it rains, snows etc. Or just tearing up a country backroad. Although i would rather it be a manual top, the latch to release the top is right in the middle, unlike my dad's car where there are two on either side of the top which is a little hard to get to if you're my height. The turbo takes some getting used to since it spools up at around 2K, if you arent careful the 225hp it puts out will jerk you around a good bit. The transmission shifts smoothly and isnt as moody as my dad's Z3. Right now the car is averaging at 27.8MPG combined.

Pros

Timeless styling. Head room is great for taller drivers.  Great Bose stereo. Quick; great in on freeway.  Much more cargo room than I expected.  Still looks contemporary 14 yrs later.  Handling in quattro is tight. Build quality is generally good (varies throughout car from amazing to meh).

Cons

Stiff ride (not surprising).  Can be noisy with top up on windy days.  Fine if you want to crank the stereo, but not if you want to chat with passenger. Cup holders are in awkward position, very hard to reach. Mileage is good but you have to stay off the pedal to get over 25mpg. Takes 93 octane.

Unique, Fun Roadster With Lots Of Creature-comforts And Timeless Design — The 2001 quattro roadster is a great little car. Timeless, unique styling. Head room is great for taller drivers-much better than most roadsters and even those 6'+ tall can fit comfortably (very important to me). First yr for convertible TT in US, so there are not that many good low-mileage examples left, but if you can find one can still get it for a great price. Look for the ones with the amber optic baseball interior and Bose stereo; both amazing- even by 2014 standards. Quick; especially fun in 4th/5th/6th on freeway. Suggest looking into stage 1 tune which will bring quattro up to ~250hp and smooth out power. Much more cargo room than I expected. Way less common and more unique than a boxster or bmw roadsters- still looks contemporary 14 yrs after build (moreso than later models in my opinion). People often think it is a new $40-$50k car. If you buy one, find a good audi/VW shop; they will charge prob half of the dealership. Take note of whether timing chain has been replaced and when. Replace it more often than recommended (every 50k or so, bc if they go it's bad news). Overall, I love it. Exactly what I wanted for fun and commuting on sunny days.

Fun to drive, too fast

Cons

Niggling little electrical problems, build quality

Audi Tt — The performance of this car is really fun. It's just annoying when niggling little electrical glitches show up. The car is totally beautiful, I'm just looking for a cheap place to get it fixed. It gets about 23 mpg, but there is usually a big grin on my face when I drive it.

Cons

electrical problems galore

If Looks Could Kill — Gorgeous car, lots of fun in the sun with the top down or in the snow thanks to the quatro AWD. Would have liked more perforemance bang for the $$$ - amazing handlng but short on power. Also lots of electical problems: power windows got stuck open and needed a new dashboard due to short (cover4ed by warranty). Traded it in for a new Porsche Boxster S... in hind site perhaps I shouldn't have...

Pros

Handling is amazing and it drives in the snow better than almost anything else. The hatchback allows you to carry a lot more than one would expect in a sports car

Cons

not a good passenger car

Purrrfect Driving Experience — I love everything about this car except I cannot take my mother on road trips with me anymore. So, I guess I need to get a bigger car. It travels in the snow like a snow mobile. I pass up almost anything on the road during the winter months

Cons

Fragile, money-pit of maintenance, zero trunk space

Timeless — My first manual transmission: six speeds of heaven. Plenty torque down low, lovely sound up high. I've never been complimented so much at rest areas and gas stations. Love her to death :)

Pros

this is truly a driving enthusiasts car. It handles amazingly and almost tells you when to shift the gears,

Cons

obviously, like most sporty convertibles, no back seat but does have a roomy trunk.

Daily Commuter Audi — LOVE it! this car is so much fun to drive and as far as the convertible top, it almost has no road noise. I;m sure the Bose stereo system helps drown out whatever small noise could creep in while tooling down a winding country road on a clear Spring day.

Just Eh — Nothing to write home about. some cool interior details. Better car than the competition for 2 seater german cars. Handled well but road stiff. Convertible top sensor was crap, wheel sensors went continuously. Never major work needed, but frequent small stuff. Not typical of most Audi, but overall still a fun little toy.

Good Looking Gold Digger — good looking. love the convertible for hot days. breaking, accelerating, handling is decently good. Fun to drive. On the other hand ....repairs are really expensive. Spent $4000 in the last 6 months. Gas mileage sucks plus you have to use premium so its even more expensive. Big blind spots. But Im a sucker for little convertibles so I dont regret buying my TT.
