Pros

Reasonable performance and reliable.

Cons

Price as new. Poor materials used in the interior. Low gear ratios and lack of any feeling from the brakes.

You Don't Buy This Car With Your Heart. — Good performance from the small 1.0 liter engine, probably because it spent so much of its life on the highway at high revs. In fact, this engine always had to be pretty revved up, since the gear ratios were so short. It was one of those cars where you just kept begging for a sixth gear or taller gearing. Handling wasn't bad but there was some lack of feel, particularly from the steering and the brakes. The latter sometimes didn't seem up to the job and required quite a vigorous push, due to the amount of pedal travel needed before anything happened. The gearbox on the other hand was quite good, though in its later years it was becoming a bit notchy and 1st gear was sometimes hard to select. Everything was pretty solid and well assembled but the the interior materials were too hard and some parts - door panels, gearbox, steering wheel - started to shed some skin after a while, which I think is unacceptable considering how much it cost when new. One of the things that annoyed me the most about this car was its poor ergonomics, such as: . The electric windows controls were placed so far back on the door handles that you had to use the opposite hand to the door to operate them, particularly the driver! . The air recirculation button could only be used if the air direction dial was in certain positions. . Because the back window defroster button was an analog toggle button, that meant it was extremely easy to forget turning it off. Since it wouldn't turn itself off even when you started the car, that meant you could easily be using the defroster when you had no need for it. Its looks are a bit bland - not bad looking but definitely not striking. As far as maintenance goes, you just have to avoid VW dealers - it's an absolute rip-off. Original parts themselves were quite expensive.

Pros

Economical, Reliable, Nippy, Good Drive

Cons

Not a massive external change from the older shape Polo.

2000 Volkswagen Polo — Performance: 1.4 16V is quick enough for this car, it is quite nippy. The brakes are good and strong and handles nice and predictable with lots of grip. Build Quality: Generally So-So, this one had suffered at the hands of young children, so a lot of the buttons were broken. Top end of the engine was very rattley at 3k revs but that is a common fault and nothing to worry about. Appearance: Nice looking Cost of Ownership: Very good on petrol and cheap on insurence. Fun Factor: Is great to drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Vw Polo 1.4 16v — My VW Polo is a lovely car if you're a beginner driver. The car is amazing, and popular, the car is very easy to handle and it brakes very good as well, my polo has 75 hp, but my car seems to have more than 75 hp according to friends

Polo Gti — very quick little pocket rocket, good 0-60 then seems to lack gusto, quick in the corners too, likes to whip its tail out, 16 valve 125 bhp! good quick little car, very sketchy in the wet i add, red interior, 6 cd changer, digital climate control, xenon lights, ac, sunroof, electric windows, good little package

Cool as hell

Cons

Lol — Just the best small car. Super fast, in all aspects. Very solid build quality and reliability. Looks a beast, good on fuel, and its lowered, this means it runs corners very well and sticks like glue, Better value for money than a Bugatti Veyron.

Pros

Nippy, Spunky, Fun, and non car buffs think it's a Golf!

Cons

Aren't any lol

Bee's Knees For First Time Drivers. — Performance - acceleration is pretty good despite it being a 1 litre, however this is hampered majorly if more than two people are onboard, braking very good and sharp, handling extremely nippy at sub 40Mph. Build Quality - No squeaks or rattles, typically german, not that pretty to look at, but works damn effectively. Appearance - exterior i love it, interior bit bland. Cost of Ownership - Maintenance £0, Petrol pricey if motorway usage is high. Fun Factor - I once jumped this car off the crest of a humpbacked bridge, landed otherside of the road, no damage to anything, tough little beastie, helluva lot of fun to drive.

Fun But Expensive — good cars but i think i bought a bad one. it just seemed thing needed replacing all at once wheel bearing, thermostat, and electric window motor. but apart from that its fun to drive and quite gutsy for a 1.4
