2000 Isuzu Rodeo LS Review
ProsIt looked nice. ConsSerious loss of power makes it hard to review.

An Absolute Money Pit. — From the start I had problems with this SUV. Bought it in 08 and it had a very low mileage and now I think it's because it was always broken down. Common problem with the Rodeos is a constantly flashing fuel warning light. It's supposed to be a simple fix. Not for me. I ended up having to have a new fuel pump fitted too. This did not fix the problem. The bloody thing cut out at every stop sign and happily (not) when I was in the middle of a busy road trying to turn. Serious fuel starvation, with many diagnoses but no conclusion, made it impossible to tow a horse trailer. I spent a lot of money trying to repair the Rodeo and in the end, I traded it on for an older truck. Disappointing. Primary Use: Family transportation

2000 Isuzu Rodeo LSE 4WD Review
ProsDependable, comfortable interior, good visibility all around, small turning diameter. Pushbutton 4x4. Great ground clearance in stock form. Rear windows roll all the way down into door. Rear split seats fold down absolutely flat. ConsA bear to work on. Many replacement parts are expensive since not too many were 'put together.' No dipstick to easily check fluid level in automatic transmission.

Clean, Classic On-frame 4x4 Suv — This is not my first Rodeo. :) This is my third Rodeo. They are not 'made' but rather assembled by several well-known auto manufacturers. Some parts from China, some from Japan, and some from USA. This is a great handling wintertime 4x4. Automatic transmission has both 'winter' and 'power' modes. Fun to drive. This particular Rodeo is a v6 and does burn some oil between changes. I just have to check the oil level regularly to protect my investment. Primary Use: Family transportation

Best Bang For Your Buck — fast in coners, slow above 98mph, handles nice, low but rides nice. Plenty of power when needed as long as you get coil packs. Its cheep to own and has plenty of pluses and fun as hell! feels like a go-cart! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsGreat Power and utility ConsHighway handling

My Ninth Car — I liked it for the most part. It had plenty of power and great ground clearance to take off road. It wasn't bad for long trips but it is a truck. Driving it even on the highway however required both hands on the wheel as it always felt as if it was going to leave the road at any moment. |
