2000 Hyundai Elantra Overview

The 2000 Hyundai Elantra continued the now established Elantra line into the new millennium. Certainly not a powerhouse touring sedan, the 2000 Hyundai Elantra only came with a single engine: a 140 hp, 2.0 liter inline 4-cylinder engine. This engine came with two transmission options, as so many sedans do: the standard 5 speed manual or the optional 4 speed automatic. Gas mileage is pretty good, with 22-24 miles per gallon city miles and 31-33 highway miles. And the 2000 Hyundai Elantra is a decent size, 174 inches long and 67 wide.
By no means is the 2000 Elantra a luxury vehicle. The 2000 Hyundai Elantra only has those comforts and conveniences that most cars came with then. Air conditioning comes standard, as does a tilt steering column, power windows, power locks, a radio and a cassette player. Options include cruise control, a CD player, and a manual sunroof. Safety features include standard driver and passenger airbags, with optional anti-lock brakes.
Owners of the 2000 Hyundai Elantra seemed to recognize it for what it was, a low-cost sedan for people who need to get from place to place simply. Many people had no problems whatsoever with the Hyundai Elantra, though Hyundai's reputation for low quality does seem to have some basis in fact. Many people found the interior of the 200 Hyundai Elantra to be flimsy and poorly crafted. The backseat and trunk left a lot to be desired, at least as far as space goes. However, engine problems did not seem to be much of an issue for most owners. The 2000 Hyundai Elantra seemed to be a highly recommended inexpensive car.
