Eddie Bauer Explorer — This is a great SUV. It has leather, and a whole lot of gadgets. It has a back up beep system, tells me when the oil needs changing, how far I can go on the tank of gas, and the mpg. It has air conditioner controls in the back, as well as seperate radio controls for the rear passengers.

Love My Limited Explorer — I went from a small Soob sedan to my Explorer. I don't know why I haven't been driving one all along. I LOVE my Explorer. I live in a rural northern area, where there is snow, ice, wind and lots of travel on gravel or dirt roads. This vehicle is built for this lifestyle. Inside, the limited is absolutely gorgeous. Mine now has 86K on it and no problems. I'm thinking that in a year or so, I'll trade this in for yet another.

4x4 Thats Decently Roomy And Gas Miliage Isent Too Bad Compared To Most — -4.oL v6 single overhead cam -sunroof -Auto -400km per tank approx. -50-60$ to fill - it looks good clean and fun to make mud fly, and all kinds of room for friends when doing some offroading fun - grey interior

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Capable in the snow and bad weather

Pretty much everything else...slow acceleration, poor gas mileage, low build quality, etc, etc.

Fix Or Repair Daily = F-o-r-d — Ok, if you can't say something nice...don't say anything at all. Here's something nice: It was great in the snow; I felt very safe in the bad weather. HOWEVER... It was a total piece of junk. I bought it with 39,000 miles on the odo, had it for no more than 1 week...and the transmission blew up. I replaced the Oxygen sensor and an exhaust gas sensor to try to cure a stalling problem (it eventually went away on its own). The power steering pump was moaning very loudly at 55,000 miles. When I got rid of it with 61,000 miles...the transmission was slipping again. Enough is enough! Build quality in the interior was terrible...lots of cheap trim pieces. The cloth seats were very comfortable, though. It had the base 4.0 V6 with 160 horsepower. Acceleration was TERRIBLE. Merging onto the highway involved a planted right foot and lots of prayers. Gas mileage was pretty bad (14-15mpg average no matter what, even on the highway). I may have just been unlucky and wound up with a lemon...but, I'd have to think long and hard about whether I'd buy another Ford ever again.

Great Used Truck — I bought this car 16 months ago and it had 68,000 miles on it. It is in excellent condition with no rust whatsoever. The acceleration and braking is average; the handling is good. I have needed no repairs and have had only oil changes so far. The gas mileage is what you would expect for a truck, around 22-23 miles per gallon. I wouldn't say this is a "fun" car to drive, but it definitely exceeded my expectations when I purchased it. Overall, I would give my vehicle a B+.

Awesome Truck — Gas mileage is kinda bad, but you get used to it, its fun to drive and very responsive, yet kind of expensive when it comes to the gas. but over all a fun vehicle to own. Way to go Ford =]

Gas mileage (with 4.10) / sway bar links break fairly easily

2000 Ford Explorer 4 Door 4x4 — After having my '96 for 5 years, it and it being my first vehicle and all, i had quite the hard time leaving it but this has been a pretty great replacement. Bought it with 92k miles. Since then I have put on new tires, new sway bar links, new tensioner pulley, new belt, new spark plugs and wires and that has been about it. It came with a 4.10 rear axle with no limited slip however a quick run to the junk yard and a days worth of work and i had myself a 4.10 limited slip. Its not great for gas mileage (19 at best on highway) but it really puts every ounce of power the truck has got down to the pavement and it will haul our 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer loaded up and everything at 70 mph. ( I also added air shocks in the rear as well so that helps a lot with load leveling and such) Other than that, it sits well on the road, I keep er' cleaned up all the time and she looks sharp, have been EXTREMELY happy with both my Explorer's! Been bullet proof for me!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
