2000 Ford Escort ZX2 Review
ProsModified (or the SR model) versions of this car are hidden gems. ConsStock, it's under powered, doesn't handle well, and is cramped.

2000 Ford Escort Zx2 — This started out as little more than basic transportation. With some after market additions, it actually turned out to be a fun car. It was also a pretty good looking cheap car. In stock form, the intake design kills power by straving the twin cam engine of air! The skinny little stock wheels and tires ruin any handling the car may have. With a new air intake system, and bigger wheels and tires, this car was surprising. It handled very well, and with a engine that could breathe, it had a lot more useable power! The 5-speed transmission was nothing special, but it was essential to wringing out the maximum performance of the engine. This car with the Automatic transmission was worthless! Note: these modifications are exactly the same mods Ford made to the SR version of this car! Where this car was lacking was in useable interior space. Headroom was limited, and rear seat room was a joke! Primary Use: Commuting to work

Gonna Build Her Again — this car had a lot of modifications. mainly because stock completely sucked, but modded was a great, fun car. very tough and reliable. looked and sounded great. was expensive to build, but the car was cheap, so all in all not bad price for what she was. Good Car Drive It Every Where — over all a nice car fun to drive not a lot of aftermarket options but looks just as sharp with out them not the fastest car in the world but good for what it is love it wish i could do some more to it but with a tight budget and not a master mechanic i do with what i got thats about it Primary Use: Family transportation | ||

Not Bad — great acceleration... until u hit 2nd gear. makes up for it in 3rd and 4th though. the smart ass people at ford aligned the engine block, crank shaft and transmission incorrectly in every single 2000 focus and escort, resulting in an insane amount of vibration when the car is idling. the cars still work, but it knocks off allot of hp. Who Knew An Escort Could Turn Heads? — 0-60 on a good launch: 6.5 sec. Handles like a boss, new brakes so those are beast status too. A few rattles here and there, then again, that might be from the awesome HKS exhaust that is nice and loud, or it could have something to do with driving around with 2 12" Subs bumpin' at full output. Overall it's a sick first car for sure! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) | ||

It Is A Ford And You Will Never Have A Problem With It If You Take Care Of It. — This car gets me anywhere I want to go and never gives me a problem. It has power and can do burn out on the road. They Should Revive It!!! — i loved this car!! i only sold it cause it was starting to brake down on me and i could afford the repairs all at once. :( although it looke really nice and pretty, it lacked everything in the engine department!! Ford only put 140 horsepower in it. if they ever made a new one with the same design, but with more horsepower and tourq, oh and a much better clutch system....lol..... i would deff. buy it!! like mabye with 200 horsepower turbo with at least 180 pounds of tourq or more!!!SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!! but nnnoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! they stoped making that car in 2000.. and they only had 14 in Canada.. 3 in Montreal and mine was one of them.. i miss that car. lol Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) | ||

My First Car. — Almost everything from the steering wheel up has broken and needed replaced. The performance on it is weak when stock but can be livened up. Bought it wrecked for cheap so didnt cost too much. Car handles like a go kart making corners fun. If i was to recommend this car it would have to be a ZX2 that isnt stock |
