2000 Dodge Dakota R/t — This is for a 2000 Dakota R/T. Performance was a little less than thrilling in stock form. However it takes well to mods and can be a real powerhouse. One of the most important things to do is reflash the PCM for a performance tune. It also handles extremely well. It has 95,000 miles on it now with no major or costly repairs and I don't baby it either. The cost of ownership is a bit much. When I bought it, we were all complaining that gas was $1.50 a gallon. $4 a gallon really changes driving habits with this vehicle. Now that I have it the way I like it, I wouldn't be happy driving any other truck.

ProsLooks awesome, really dependable never leaves me stranded. ConsNo front recovery hooks, short bed on quad cab models, needs a little more power.

2000 Dodge Dakota — The Dodge Dakota is one of the best if you are looking for a mid sized pickup, its not to big and its not to small. mine has the 287 4.7L v-8 so it has pretty good acceleration although it could be better. I think that the truck handles pretty good on just about any kind of surface except gravel roads that have that washboard effect on them, then it handles horrible. The build quality of the truck overall seems to be pretty good although i have noticed that my tailgate does squeak and rattle and it is annoying when you have the rear sliding window open. I think the styling of the truck inside and out is pretty good and i dont think i would change anything on the outside of the truck. The gas mileage is not to bad on the highway as long as you are going about 60mph-65mph you will see 16-24mpg depending on how flat the road is and how much wind there is. However if you are going to go 75mph-80mph on the interstate dont plan on seeing anything better than 15mpg. Gas mileage in town all depends on how much acceleration you want when the light turns green, my average for in town is about 14mpg. My truck is 4x4 which makes it a pretty fun vehicle to drive when it snows of when you go off-road, however if you are going to be off-roading a lot in this truck i would plan on getting some mud tires because before i got my mud tires i found it easy to get my truck stuck. Now that i have had these new mud tires on it i have not been stuck once.

Ford Had The Mustang, Chevy The Camaro, So Dodge Made A Truck That Could Beat Em Both. — Truck books it stops on a dime and handles like a go-kart whats not to like? The trucks a blast to drive. If you drive in the city your going to the gas station every other day but hell it doesnt have a 5.9 V8 in it for economy. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Love It — I love the power this truck has with its V8 and the 4X4 to do some crazy off roading, the only thing i dont like about this truck is the dealership i bought it from. Well its about time to go drive my truck now. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsV8 in a mid. size Cons13.3 mgp no matter what

Just Ok — It was at best just OK. I never had any problems with it but after my 1996 it was a big let down. It had worse performance and worse gas mileage. 13.3 mpg is not what I was expected out of a mid. size truck Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsI found this truck to be very reliable, especially in extreme weather conditions. Also it is very roomy and great for hauling trailers etc. Or just to take out to the farm and take it mudding. ConsPoor fuel economy

Great Work Truck, Good-looking, Liked Everything About It. — I really do love this truck. It's great for work and hauling things like trailers or mowers, etc. It doesnt get the best fuel economy especially with the V8 Magnum. Which, is the biggest engine that dodge makes for dakotas. But if your wanting a work truck with lots of power. This is what you're looking for. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Awesome — 5.9L fast when not at full throttle. Instant power and great throttle response. Sleek flowing design. Doesn't take much to get it lowered to a good stance. Awesome truck to drive anywhere. Haven't replaced anything on the truck. Overall a good, fast, reliable truck. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |
