CarGurus Overview

The LX returned as the base level in 2000, after a two year hiatus.  The LX had not changed since 1997.  It was still available with two engine options and the Gold Package of options, which added some of the features found in the higher level LXi.  The Cirrus series of mid size sedans would be discontinued after this year, and replaced by the new Chrysler Sebring.
The LX came standard with a 2.0 liter DOHC four cylinder engine, provide the 3000 pound sedan with 129 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of of torque.  The LX accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds, and reached the quarter mile in seventeen.  The optional V-6 boosted horsepower to 168, but did not offer any significant performance improvements.  Both engines were paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and all LXs were front wheel drive.
Cirrus owners expressed great dissatisfaction with the car's brakes.  Those would endured over 100,000 miles reported replacing the pads and rotors three or four times.  Significant brake service before 25,000 miles was not uncommon.  The Cirrus could be praised for its spacious interior, especially in the back, thanks to Chrysler's cab-forward layout.
