This Is The Best Truck Ever Made — Chevrolet power with reliability it has 170,000 miles on it and it has never broke on me nor have i had any major mechanic work on it. great acceleration and pick up. will put you back in your seat. chevy always has the smoothest ride and great off road capabilities. Gas mileage is the best you will get in a truck no matter what brand, interior and exterior styling is awesome. Definitely go with a chevy truck.

Very Happy — Pretty fast truck cause its 2WD with a 4.8L, not bad gas millage, bout 225,000 kms on her and very few probloms other then brakes, tires, anti-frezze clamp and a bit of rust to take off by the muffler. Awesome truck and very reliable. Its a fun truck to drive.

ProsEverything ConsGas

My Baby — The appearance of the vehicle is outstanding, she is my baby and I do what I can to take care of her. The ABS system is the only thing I don't like about it. The way I drive, I brake quickly and this causes problems with the sensors. I have had to replace all kinds of sensors and will probably have to replace the pump soon. The suspension has also been a little bit of a problem as I have custom 22" rims. I have had to replace all of the differencial twice and pinion rods and hub assembly. I wish I could put positive track on... that would be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do most of the repairs at home so the maintenance is not that hard except for the parts--- the fuel pump was a fun one. The gas now is really hard on me, though. Between $90-120 to fill up and that lasts about 4 or 5 days. Mileage is high 140,800. Great condition, can't beat it. The inside needs replacement on the seats but I am saving up to get custom bucket seats, $700 dollars a seat. $1200 for the back row but its gonna be awesome. I am tired of typing but I could just go on and on about her but im not

ProsStick Shift, Utility, Easy maintenance ConsSeats can be uncomfortable
35
Great Truck — I was looking for a stick shift 4X4 Pick Up and finally found one of the last factory equipped 1500's with the small 4.8l V8. The truck has not been flawless, but then I treat it like a truck and it behaves like a truck. Would not trade it in on anything except for maybe a brand new truck with a stick... so I would not trade it for anything

I Love This Truck It Has Always Been Good To Me Chevy All The Way. — I love this truck it is my first vehicle and i have no intention of parting with it. The performance is good of course it could be better it is only a v6, but it is good on gas and gets up and goes when i need it to. It gets about 15 city 20 hwy. The trans feels nice and solid without feeling stiff and the clutch always gives plenty of feedback and is heavy without making me think im driving a tractor. This truck is definitely a ton of fun to drive. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsBought it Feb 29, 2000. Couple of recalls, nothing major. Cons...are on me for not buying the extended cab version. Otherwise, none.
25
Best Vehicle Ever — 18mpg on a 40 mile/day typical commute with about 70% hwy miles. It is not a family car, it has no back seats. I have spent under $1k on non-routine maintenance on this truck over 12 years. If you have the opportunity to buy this truck from a solo owner who has kept every record like I have, have your mechanic check it out, then buy it. You should've bought this truck new. I should've bought this truck new with an extended cab. I've had direct experience with a number of cars/trucks, so I'll rank them: 1-00 Silverado, 2-05 Pilot, 3-83 Suburban, 4-95 Cherokee, and I include the latter 2 because (3) went 300k and (4) took 2 tons of abuse. If/when I sell my baby I am not negotiating on the price. It is far and away the best vehicle I've known, I'm the only driver, and I've saved every record. If you buy a vehicle this age, DEMAND records. Make it a point. If they don't have them, you have a SOLID negotiating point. Buy local, take it to your trusted mechanic for a pre-buy inspection. Save your $ on carfax and spend those at your local mechanic. New truck? Go price 18" tires. I've driven this truck to Phoenix (02), South Padre Island (05), and Omaha (02). Never a doubt. A Chevy V8 truck is the platinum standard. I'll be hard pressed to sell even if gas goes "high". I've had one $500 visit to change cabin air filters/fix squeaky door/fuel filter since 2000. I REALLY don't want to get rid of this truck. EVER. My son may get this as his school vehicle sometime next decade. The guy at the local gravel/mulch yard asks me every other time if I want to sell it. He gets a smile and a shake of the head. Here's what goes bad on this truck: filters/oil/tires/battery. I'm 20,000 miles from 200k service. Why are people Chevy/Ford/Toyota people? They buy a vehicle like this one. Primary Use: Commuting to work
