America's Best Kept Secret. — Bought my wife her very last car which is a red 2000 Coupe automatic with removable roof and hatch with huge storage area. We loved it. So I decided to get one for myself to autocross and enjoy. I found myself this 2000 car with Convertible, 6 speed, Z51 handling package and only 61K miles on a 15 year old car. The HOD is awesome with a shift light too. PO had installed Euro front and rear (tiger shark) fascias which make the car totally unique. This is as sold in EU for Autobahn use with required downforce. Looks very aggressive. Very seldom see one like this and I love the Metallic Pewter color with the black top and interior. So far the only issue with our C5's has been the turn signals stopped working on both cars. Simply repeatedly pushing the emergency flashers on and off 25 or times in rapid succession has fixed both cars. It's time consuming to replace that $30 combined switch. We like the C5 with the covered headlights better than the C6 with the plastic lens covers that always get cloudy here in FL sun. Both our cars get 27-28mpg @ 75mph cruising speed in OD. The 3 in-trunk covered storage bins are very useful and "secret" from prying eyes on both coupe and convertible models. There is only one cupholder but don't put anything in there without a cap on it. These cars handle and ride better than you would ever imagine. Turn off the traction control or put mine in Competition Mode and go on a track to look like a pro. This car weighs only 100lbs more than my RX8 with 345HP and 350 torque. One cannot put more power than that to the ground so rolling the throttle on is important to learn or just leave the traction control on and wear out the rear brakes.

As A Two Corvette Owner This Is The Most Comfotable For Long Trips Great Milage And Lovin It — Ground clearance really close speed bumps and drive ways a challange Only run flat tires no spare. Underhood acess realy tight, battery shorts can have really bad issues. Can't get under it to do anything making it hard without a roll-on lift

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

First Vette — I've owned this car since new. A little more than 30k on the odometer. Great casual car for weekend fun. Have done a few track related weekend getaways with the Mrs. Suprising cargo capacity for these outing, enough room luggage, folding chairs and all the accessories needed for a three day weekend. Also fuel economy blew me away, drove 600 miles to the innagural F1 race at Indy on one tank. In hindsight I was misinformed about the fuel capacity, would not have streatched so far otherwise. Great track manners. No where near the power of contemporary Vipers but it would out handle them in the twisties. Some gremlins along the way, anti-theft system stranded me with the steering lock issue. GM failed only a week later. Bought an aftermarket fix that has been reliable. Rear differential has a leak now - major undertaking to fix. Like doing all my own work, not looking forward to this one. Interior is not much better than other Chevy's. Looks like GM has made some progress on the Gen7 Corvette. Problems aside, I'd buy it again. Best value in this segment.

Great car and great gas milage

Cons

Passenger blinker, driving blub burns out. I have also noticed this on other C-5's. Maybe a design flaw...

Pros

It is the best sports car on the road for the price.  I love the styling.

Cons

This car is run by computer and so much of the system runs in the back ground.  If you do not  drive at least a couple times a week, you find yourself with a dead battery very often and then needing to replace batteries often.

Fabulous — My car always attracts so much attention. It is a rare color and not many were ever made in the Nassau Blue. After owning another sports car manual drive for 15 years, I loved the automatic. It has so much power, it will put you in back seat. I love the C5, C6, and now the C7.

My Take On A 2000 Corvette — The Corvette is a great car. Looks great outside and had awesome performance and handling. It's extremely fun to drive and would recommend to anybody. Although it is a V8, it gets good gas mileage and can be anyone's daily driver. However, the interior is cheap and tends to need a lot of attention to keep it decent. Stock stereo is great except for the head unit.

Pros

This car is a 6speed, black on black, loaded, miles of only 46,150, drives like a race car, has 8cd holder in the rear, it's a coupe, not a thing wrong with it, just a beautiful car, and fun to drive. average mileage is 28mpg, great tires,,stored all winter and summer, only out when I use it.

Cons

Its black, everything shows inside and out

It Has Great Style — There is nothing I dislike about this car; the performance is top of the line, it handles and accelerates like a sports car should. It's sporty, classy, and it makes peoples heads turn. The ride is great with top off or on, and in 6th gear you are making money!

Awesome — This car compared to other foreign model sports cars is unsurpassed in all respects. The value for the money is uncomparable. The amount of miles you can travel with the 6-speed manual on a tank of gas is incredible. I took a 4200 mile trip, running at an average of 80-95 miles an hour with a top speed of 177 miles per hour and still averaged 30.4 miles per gallon. How can you beat that?

Hot — Fast, fun, hard on gas mileage, typical American car of the early 2000. Detroit union made. Some inferior workmanship and subsequent reliability of parts. Replaced the air conditioner and power steering unit. Still a performance bargain for the price. I want a newer version (2007 Z06).

Pros

Surprisingly free of typical Corvette issues. Maintenance has been on time and any repairs needed were made immediately so it is in excellent mechanical condition. Interior is like new.

Cons

Had to remove run-flats, as there is no dealer in this area to repair them. Glass tops tend to crack along the edges over time.

Super Clean All Black 2000 Corvette Glass Top Coupe — When I first bought this car, it had numerous electrical issues. It was in the shop on four occassions due to needed corrections of electrical issues, but after the first year of repairs, it has been surprisingly free of problems. The normal repairs that arise over time have been nothing out of the oridinary, and I average about 22 MPG around the city, so gas mileage is not really an issue. Probably due to the overdrive. Generally a great car.
