Great Car, Runs And Handles Beautifully, Best Convertible On The Market — Lots of room for a small (except the trunk) for such a small, highly maneuverable car. Handles like a dream. Very adequate power and pickup for my purposes. Fantastic road car in the summer with the top down, and it barely uses any gas -- 30+ mpg. I like it so much I'm already looking for another to replace it when I give this one to my kids in a few years. Don't know why VW stopped making it. Owner for 3 years, 6 months Miles Driven per Year:10,000

ProsLike an every- ready battery this car keeps going! ConsThe motor for the convertible top needs repair

Its Great For Car Mileage....fantastic ... — For those who know about vw's will understand the life that this car still has today! If you can locate a mechanic with his own shop rather then going to a vw service deptment you will have it made....the major cost in repairs of this car as with many falls all in the labor.

Love It — This car drives well and is a classic. I bought this car from the original owner who didn't take care of it. Cost of ownership is high, but most parts are available. I love the style and german engineering......I hope they import the new one. Primary Use: Commuting to work

My Cabrio — Great car. No complaints! She was fun, cute, and reliable! I'm actually wanting another one. It was very affordable in every aspect. From mpg, to oil changes, and basic maintenance. I never had any issues with her at all. Great car for women in their 20's. Sadly, they are no longer making them :( Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsFun to drive, well, built, solid chassis, drop-top appeal, good stock sound system. ConsCost of repairs, limited space, a bit weak on the power side.

Fun Little Thing. — Performance - the car has a few years and a good number of miles on it. Performance is not stellar so a tune up would be good to restore some of the lost oomph. Build Quality - it iss a VW. Solid to the bone. Despite the years the chassis feels strong and rigid. Although much of the interior is covered in plastic, it does not look cheap. After a good clean up the interior has the potential to look almost new. Appearance: it is not a bad looking car. Obviously the convertible factor adds to the appeal. Straight, streaming lines from front to back give it a nice "on-the-move" look. Cost of ownership: gas mileage is not bad. An average of 21-24 is common. Add a little coasting and you may be able to get more. The one painful issue, as with most German cars, is the cost of repairs. They can be quite hefty so good preventive maintenance is key. Fun factor: small car with a firm chassis, responsive steering and a drop top. If it's not too cold or not too hot outside, few things can be better than winding your way along your local back roads with the wind in your face.

Nice But Not For Me — I loved the convertable part but i dont know if before me the lady didnt take car of it but it was alwas haveing work in less than a year i had it we put almost $3000 in it. In order to fix thee roof which i made manual they would have to take the whoe car apart to get to the bottom of it.
