It is a super awesome car!

Cons

Try not to blow your radiator, it is front wheel drive.

Great Sports Car If You Need To Haul 5 People And Have A Limited Budget. — I loved everything about this car, from the nice roar of the exhaust to the black leather interior. It was faster than a Mustang GT in every race you could put it up to while getting better gas mileage. Amazing car!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Supercharged....nuff Said — The performance speaks for itself in the word supercharged. With 240 horsepower and a performance shift option, this car SCREAMS down the road. The transmission is the 4T65e and ive never had a problem with it. The braking is good but pontiac needs to figure out the brake dust issue (on all pontiacs not just mine). The handling is great. The build quality is great. I built it and so far (knock on wood) nothing major has happened to the car. The exterior is very aggressive. My car has the factory 40th anniversary Ram Air hood on it. The interior is amazing. All leather with power and heated drivers seat, floor shift, heads up display, and a great stereo. The stereo is completely factory with 8 speaker Bose system with a factory amp in the trunk. The cost of ownership isnt that bad. Its getting about 26.4 mpg with the supercharger belt off. Yes the belt is off. My dad said not a chance. Plus I get to run Regular gas in my car. Maintenance is easy and affordable as well. Fun? Um yeah this car is a blast.

Pros

-Reliable
-Powerful For Being Stock. Great 3800 GM Engine. Powerful And Built To Last.
-Good Styling
-Easy To Get Parts For, Thanks To GM.

Cons

-Still Stock
-Transmission, Had To Replace At 40,000 Miles. Ended Up Replacing It With A Jasper Trans.
-Some Problems That Are More Irritating Than Serious Problems. Includes Things Like Leaky Spoiler And Squeaky Dashboard.

Mostly Stock But Very Reliable And Can Still Hold It Own For Its Class. — I Have Been Very Happy With My Pontiac Grand Prix Gt. Its Never Let Me Down. Aside From The Transmission Which Was A GM Piece Of Junk, I Have No Problems With It. It Still Looks Good For Being Almost 10 Years Old. Put In A Custom Sound System With All Sony Xplod Speakers, An Alpine Head, And A Bazooka Sub Strapped to the Back Seat Frame. It Had Its Share Of Needed Parts But I Kinda Expected That. Overall I'm Very Happy With The Grand Prix. I'm Just Sad That Pontiac Is Replacing The Grand Prix With The G8 by 2009. Don't Get Me Wrong Though, That G8 Is Cool. But I'll Miss The Grand Prix.

Fun To Drive — This car is fun to drive. You really notice the kick when you punch the accelerator. Car handles the corners good as well. The confort inside is good but it does make a few rattles and squeaks. The supercharger is fairly loud as well. Sound system is great and can really pump the bass. Recent problems with it have been the engine oil gasket ($800), throttle control, ($205 including towing 1.5 miles) and the coolant sensor (getting fixed on Wednesday). At 116,000 miles I would expect probably all but the oil gasket. That was a design flaw in GMs design.

Pros

Brisk acceleration (1/4 mile - 14.97 @ 90 mph) only took it to an NHRA strip once and had a good time.

Cons

Allows a bit too much road noise.

Would Buy It Again. — The car is quite impressive in acceleration, good braking qualities and corners rather well. The overall build quality is good. It has required brake repair on two occasions (not bad for 14 years old) and the wiring harness was replaced, under warranty, at 27,000 miles. A few squeaks but certainly not bad. The cars appearance remains great. On road trips the GTP has gotten 29 miles per gallon several times, while cruising at 65 mph. Has had frequent oil changes, every 2,500 miles and 3 sets of tires. The car actually remains fun to drive and I consider it my great friend!

Good Beginner Car For A Kid. — I grew up in a GM family, this is the fourth Grand Prix we've had since 1963. I have always loved them- they have always been good cars. On this one- I bought this for my daughter's 16th birthday. She learned how to drive in a Trans Am, and with my previous experience with GP's, I knew this would be a good choice for her. Ours is a two door, has plenty of room in the front and rear, has a big trunk- for the junk...lol I think it's a good choice for a new driver. It's big enough so they wouldn't get too hurt in an accident, it has enough power to get out of the way, it handles and brakes good- really hasn't been any problems, other than what is going on now. Would I buy another one? yes.

Ruben's Gtp — That this car kicks butt! With the supercharger you can mess with faster cars and look good doing it! This car does 0 to 60 in 8 seconds which is awesome! I have a 194,000 miles and it's still running strong!

Pontiac, I Bought Many Machines From You And I'm Missing New Wide Tracks. — I purchased this Grand Prix GTP in April 1999 and I am pleased to say that it still occupies a space in my garage and is driven 3 or 4 times per week. It is very dependable. The performance has always been outstanding,on one occasion I took it to an NHRA dragway and it turned two 15.0's and a final run of 14.97 sec. In no way do I claim these times to be the quickest by a GTP but considering the factory gear ratio and weight of these cars, it is impressive. The car was and is totally showroom stock. The first set of brakes lasted for 81,000 miles and I have about 40,000 on the second set. Outstanding!! The handling is good but definitely not in a category with a WS6 equipped Trans Am. At 28,000 miles, I experienced a problem with the wiring harness and the warranty replaced it at no cost to me. The transmission still shifts positively even under full throttle. The supercharger has always had a slight whine until it reaches a normal running temperature, but I enjoy hearing it talk :-) The car has no rattles but has developed minor squeaks but even they are not bothersome at this point. The interior styling is good but I wish the dashboard had a bit more pizazz. The cloth seats are indestructable and look nearly new. Exterior wise the car looks great and has no rust or dents. It is a looker, great design Pontiac. MPG in town driving, 21 and highway 28+. Oil, filter and any lubrication has taken place every 2500 miles. Keep it clean and Mean!! This car is fun to drive and comfortable on long hauls.

Good Car......may Have Gotten A Lemon Though. — My car has had some problems in the past couple of months that's making me change this review. She was a very good car when I first got her but now after almost 2 years of ownership, she has decided to give me some trouble. She likes to cut off for no reason and the Pontiac dealer says she's fine. Some days she is and then others when she cuts off she's not. I love the way the car looks so I can forgive her a little bit but that only goes so far. Other than her cutting off, she doesn't get the best Fuel Economy, but her performance is good. She has lots of space and is room and most of the parts for her are cheap, which is good.

1999 Gtp Sedan — Where to get started? Well... It's pretty quick... not a supercar, but it does what i want it to do... The build quality isnt the best in the world, but it doesnt necassarily break down every second. In my oppinion its pretty good looking and its going to look even better after paint this week. All in all its just a great car. Fun to drive, Looks good, pretty quick, good gas milage. You cant go wrong.
