Great First Car — The performance of the car overall is good. The brakes are average, the handling is above par. The build quality of this car is great. The appearance is pretty sharp. The cost is average. This care is amazing and fun to drive. Primary Use: Commuting to work

One Of The Many Good Brands Killed Of By Gm — a good midsize american sedan not the fastest car i have driven but sporty looks for a sedan the 3.8ltr v6 was a very reliable motor car was a smooth driver and had a very nice interior and it got really good gas mileage Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsIts got the 3800 V6 ConsIts a late 90s GM with a crappy plastic interior.

Nice!!! — Its a very nice car for a first car but it does have some flaws. First the interior is all plastic. Second, the 4T65 automatic transmission is known for blowing 4th gear. Third, the car isn't great on gas, about 16 city and 23-24 highway. Other than that, it has got some pep (0-60 in about 7.5 sec) and handles well for a car of its age and mileage (12 years old with 123,000+ miles). Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosnice engine, goes fast Conswheels squeak even though brakes were replaced half a year ago, not sure what it is

'99 Intrigue — it's an old car but it still gets up around 115-120... 3.5L v6 with 215 hp. i still love it even though it's getting old on me not really any complaints about it. the wheels sometimes like squeak everytime a wheel turns haha but it's got it where it counts. it's definitely not an old beater yet.

ProsPerformance, value, style ConsThey don't make them anymore

1999 Intrigue — My 1999 Intrigue is one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned. The performance is stellar with the 3.8L V6. I can easily crank up past 70 without even noticing. The car is also so luxurious with it's leather seats, driver/passenger climate control, and CD and tape deck with premium sound.

ProsGreat accelleration. ConsHard to get parts for the 3.5L V6 engine.

Intriqued About Maintenance — My car is kind of messed up. The fuel system is always having some kind of problem. Usually all of that goes away with a new fuel filter. The acceleration is great (when running smooth.) It almost reacts like a V8. The exterior is somewhat sporty and I love the leather seats! The car is fun to drive, but it has the 3.5L V6 which is really hard to get parts for. I often need to custom order parts which sucks when you're broken down. I think this will be the first car where the "check engine" light burns out. It usually proves to be reliable, but it doesn't seem to run smoothly too often. Another GM gem!

ProsCD/Cassette, "Shortstar" V-6, Leather, NOT white, silver, beige, pewter, or some other neutral shade of blah. Best of the W-bodies. ConsSensible family sedan with front-wheel-drive.

My Daily Driver — What can you say, it's a sensible family sedan. I am the (proud?) owner of a green 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue Sedan with a tan leather interior. She's got the 3.5 liter "Shortstar" and, like ALL American mid-size sedans, an over-drive 4-speed automatic transmission. |
