1999 Mazda 626 LX Review
Prosgas mileage, it fits everything i need it to. THE TRUNK IS HUGE! Consmy rear main seal is broke so im leaking oil all over my catalytic converter & i have a hole in my exhaust pipe infront of my resonator so it makes a whole bunch of noise.

3500 — it has needed a few repairs, a new o2 sensor, needs a an exhaust pipe weld , a few rust spots the kinda came out of nowhere, ive had to replace the air intake boot....which was a pain in my a**! and it does burn oil like its its job! i love the gas mileage now that the o2 sensor is in, to a full tank i get a little over 400 miles, acceleration isnt top of the line but it works, i cant say much about thge brakies, i need new ones, but it does brake very well, no pull or shaking. it handles very well too, the interior is nice, the front buckets arent to comfy for long (8hr) road trips but then again what would be comfy for 8hours straight? i love my little car, it does have it downfalls but the good outweigh the bad....if you find one of these cars for sale buy it! Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsCheap comfort. ConsTotally average car.

I'll Buy Another One Of These Way Before I'll By A Civic, But Not Even Consider It If I Had Money. — It is very comfortable, especially for a cheap sedan. It gets pretty good milage. Has stayed together pretty well, although the paint scratches easily (mine's green). Huge trunk for a midsized car. Could have better breaks. Drivers window stopped working. Prosenough power to have some fun, a puzzle to handle but with fun rewards Consdon't rev the engine to high on a frequent basis. (believe me i know)

Manual Trans Gives Satasfactory Power, But The Understearing Leaves You Wanting More. — This car is a fun little car that you can drive (conservatively) like a sports car. with a good set of tires it breaks well and has a bit of a kick (with a standard). when it comes to cornering you really cant just do whatever. this is a car that you must learn and have to plan every corner if if you want to rip it. i you make a mistake this car will always under steer. if you nail it it can offer a good amount of g force that would be expected from a car of this class.

ProsGood acceleration, comfortable, nice appearance. ConsElectrical problems, transmission problems.

Nice, But Not A Reliable, Well-made Car. — The Mazda 626 was a nice-looking car, but it was not reliable. Every few months, something went wrong with it, whether it was something small or large. I had to have the transmission and power pack replaced. The timing belt broke. It cost more to keep the car than it did to buy it.

ProsComfortable interior. ConsBad transmission. Weak 4 cylinder engine.

Tranny Problems — The automatic I4 models from around the '99 model year have known problems with the transmission. Mazda used a weaker transmission from the Ford Probe in this model. As a result, I had to get the transmission replaced no less than 3 times before getting rid of the piece.

Proscomfortable, decent performance Consunreliable with high miles, fwd

Decent But Boring — It's pretty practical and reliable until the miles get really high. Mine's been almost trouble free until around 170k when everything goes to hell. Luckily mine has a proper manual tranny so it's not too slow. I also hate front wheel drive, but that can be said about most cars.

ProsGood economicle and reliable ride ConsWind sensitive /sidewind...

Mazda-bazda ;) — Lookes like an old-mans car, but is a very reliable ride. Economicle diezel. Drives good, but wind-sensitive. Could have move umpf (horsepower). Can be upgraded from 115 to approx 140 horsepower, but is costly. I would bye it next time with full auto- climate. Practical car, but not much fun driving. Cheap in parts. |
