F&c — We have had this Jeep in the family since 2001, and before that it was a lease vehicle. Locally owned, our family as enjoyed its function, power, ability to traverse snowy grounds, sand, and more over the years. Fun car which we have enjoyed, and continue to. The V8 is silky smooth, and has power to spare - torque. Pulls a full sized boat up Cuesta Grade at 75mph w/o blinking. Amazing! The full time 4x4 allows for extra traction on wet road trips and on our ventures to the Sierra Nevada's on snowy trips - our Jeep made this a joy. The blacked out privacy glass, also OEM, and cover in th rare makes for a clean look and privacy in hauling items. One thing we always apprecited in this vehicle was the ability of the rear seats to lay down, making a perfectly flat (flat) surface in the rear of the Jeep. Quite the hauler. Quiet fun. Quite nice! Great SUV!

Pros

I like the shape and performance, the drive is comfortable and smooth, plenty of power, quiet drive, all mod cons on car as standard (Except Sat Nav) and for a 4 litre SUV its quite good on fuel.

Cons

No Jeep Dealerships Near Me.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Wj — Great all round 4x4. Great performance, plenty of power, quick acceleration, good brakes, handles well, good overall build quality, built to last, good looking car, nice shape (not boxy) nice interior (Full leather and wood) nice alloy wheels, cheap to average on part prices, I found it cheap to insure (SureTerm Direct) As for gas & mileage? aroud town 11 - 14 to a gallon but on a run (Ie ..Motorway) 22 - 26 to a gallon, remember this is a big & heavy 4x4 soI think its quite good on fuel. Maintenance / service £90 -£250. Fun Factor....Fantastic.

Great Car, If Only The City Mpg Was Better. — I liked it alot. I was the 2nd owner of it, and I put on another 50K miles on it no sweat. It was a great purchase for me. It performed well in the Kansas snowy weather and of course the rain.

Pros

big but not too big, fast, but not too fast

Cons

not the best gas mileage

Its An Suv That Does Its Job Well — this car is the perfect median between someone who wants a car, and someone who wants an SUV. Its not a full size, so it still gets decent gas mileage (i get around 20) but its also not small enough to be bullied around on the road

Pros

Roomy, 4WD

Cons

fuel consumption, expensive parts (in Europe)

55

4.7 V8 — 4WD SUV with a V8. Nice car, except the parts are expensive. Example: the electric door mirror was broken and I wanted to buy a new one. 400 euros!! Luckily there is internet and I am able to buy the part from the US at a more reasonable price. And the fuel consumption. A big car with a V8, full time 4WD and automatic gearbox = oil companies love you and your wallet.

Pros

Great looks, comfortable

Cons

reliability, build quality, electric, engine, climate control, pretty much any major system

Jeepers — The Jeep performed well, had gobs of power and was comfortable. Handling was decent for an SUV. I thought this car was HOT beyond words and just loved everything about the styling. Quality, however, is horrendous. Nothing worked for long and it was truly a money pit. Any redeeming factor about this car was quickly overshadowed my MAJOR mechanical problems.

The Jeep That Never Was — I didn't have this thing for very long. Not sure what even made me buy it. Yeah after it was gone, not sure why either, but I missed it like crazy... thats why I bought the next one and became obsessed with them from that point on. I only had this for a few months, I can't even find a picture of it. That's really bad. That's sooooo not like me either. All I do is take pictures of my cars and myself. Anyway it was black with the gray plastic moldings and bumpers, the Laredo 4WD model. Was nicely equipped though, leather, sunroof, etc.. and all. I bought it used, it was only a year old but had 30K miles on it. Was in really good shape, not mint, but very good it was only a year old. After the few months the wheel made this noise. It sounded like a wheel or 2 or the axle, I don't know, was maybe stuck in like 4WD. Just a weird rubbing noise, no idea. It seemed to happen when I touched the 4WD so I thought. I didn't know. Well either did the dealer. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Koeppel on Northern Blvd in Jackson Heights. Gets better... I bought a warranty because the original expires at 36K. This happened at like 38.. 39... 40... because it had 40 on it when it was out of my hands. So the dealer never mailed in the paperwork to the warranty company. Back then you couldn't buy one after a certain amount of time after buying the car. So yeah they said to me ok heres your car, we'll give you the money back that you paid for the warranty, doesn't have one and we cant figure out what's wrong. No way in yeah... was I going to be stuck with a car that basically almost was undrivable with no warranty and like 4 years left on a loan. I would never even chance something like that. So they said they understand will try to fix it. Had a rental (dodge stratus - remember those) for 2 months. They gave me my Jeep intermittently back saying it was fixed but pretty much drove it right back to them because it was insanely obviousl they didn't. So after 2 months the manager said theres nothing they can do they replaced a million parts, the axles, the wheels, the 4WD, I don't even know what else, and thats all they can do. I told them I can't drive it like that, it sounded bad and really doesn't sound like its safe to drive with wheels or axles making noises. So he got in the car and said he wants to hear it. We drove and he kept saying he didn't hear anything. Meanwhile the only time you can't is maybe if you have the music at top volume. Oh yeah you can even feel the rubbing. So we drove and I'm like don't you hear that. He said no. He was just trying to get away with their mistake and stick me with this thing. Anyway they bought it back from me and I picked the Infiniti off their lot because everything they sell used is beat up or has a million miles. I think I lost money but at that point both them and myself wanted this to be over. Especially them after I walked into the showroom on a busy Saturday afternoon and was talking out loud their huge warranty mistake sticking me with this car. Ooops, all the people looking at cars heard me. Oops. So yeah went across the street and made the deal for the Infiniti. What a mess. This thing has to be in the junkyard, I don't know if it could or would ever be fixed nor if anyone would drive it like that. Being so new its worth a good amount of money still and who would pay alot for a car that seems to be deemed unfixable? Don't care though.
