ProsA to B car, sometimes a little craziness... lol ConsIf you don't like to constantly fix little things...

Don't Drive It Like I Do And It Should Last You Wayyyy Past The 250k Mark. — For an SUV from the 90's its a pretty solid vehicle. Performance: 1st SUV ever to do 0-60 in under 8 sec. Nowadays this isn't that impressive but it's still a torque-monster, Braking is good for such a heavy vehicle, Handling is ok for it being a top-heavy vehicle but in general with all other vehicles taken into account, its pretty bad handling lol Build Quality: Repairs to mine are only needed cause I drive it so hard but for the most part drive it like your sane and it shouldnt give you that many problems. Appearance: Not sleek or stylish, but it still looks good today because it has that primal, truck look and feel like older model trucks, which in essence is what it is. Cost of Ownership: Maintenance is not too expensive, commonly found parts and moderately easy to fix, Mileage is not the greatest but keep it in top running order, throw in a short-ram, and dont push it all the time and you'll be makin 20-22 mpg honestly. Fun Factor: Oh... its definitely there :D Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsPractical to get around with lots of stuff, acceleration, rugged appearance with refined interior. ConsMileage, some mechanical issues, ride-quality, steering drift, stability in winds.

An American Icon... — The Jeep's inline 6 gave it plenty of pick-up and go. The braking was sure but must be careful without the ABS. The handling was decent with a tendency to drift right and the body rocked in strong winds. I loved the commanding view as the seat rode high. The ride quality, however, was noisy and bumpy. Build quality was okay with few, early electronic problems fixed under full warranty. The Jeep lasted 135,000 miles before I sold it. Maintenance was okay after fixing the early problems. However, it got costly toward the end. Combined with poor mileage, I gave it up due to the amount of driving I do. The Jeep was always fun to drive because it was full of character. With it's wood-trimmed, leather interior; it contrasted nicely with its handsome, rugged appearance. Overall, though, I would not recommend it unless you needed it for the 4-wheel drive feature. There were better options for the money.

Jeep Cherokee '99 Sport — Is it fast? No Does it have amazing curves and angles? No Smooth ride? No But it has a 4.0L AMC engine that will never die on me. It can take abuse better than any other can out there and it is amazing off road. Also, it dosnt do to bad for gas, considering its a box. Depending on what mood im in I can get 5MPG to 27MPG.

ProsA pretty solid engine that jeep refined over a period of 20 years. Parts are easy to find in stores and junk yards and it is easy to work on. If it's dirty or noisy you can just say to yourself "meh...it's a Jeep." ConsPlasticy dash board and the occasional rattle and squeak.

It's Not Gorgeous Or Flashy, But It Is Presentable And Does What It Is Supposed To Do. — I rather like my car. Like any vehicle it has its quirks of course, but their pretty innocuous. I always thought Cherokees sat a little low and sagged a bit much with any weight in the back, so I made some changes: Old Man Emu JC2A leaf packs in the back and coils in the front. Nitro-charger shocks all around Nitro-charger steering stabilizer JKS Adjustable track arm Sway Bar Disconnects Transfer case drop kit Trxus STS 10.5x29" AT tires American Racing 737 wheels Flowmaster Exhaust and Cat Now it rides better and sits flat even when packed to the gills with stuff.

ProsGreat off road and as a daily commuter ConsNot so great fuel economy

Tough Little Off-roader — I loved this cars ability to go off road and to be extremely reliable. It had very good performance on and off road and was a reliable little car. It also has a lot of cargo space and on this one i had bike and roof racks for anything that i would want to bring with me and a ton of trunk space. The 4.0L inline 6 is definitely the way to go if you want one of these jeeps I don't thing I would consider getting the 4 cyl version. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros4WD, rugged looks ConsNoise, back seat size

Solid Jeep — The jeep has been a great suv for 13 years. It has stood up over time and still looks good, drives well especially using four wheel drive. It's a smaller suv and therefore the back seat and even the front is tight. It's loud compared to today's vehicles. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsEverything ConsGas mileage isn't the best, but not bad for an SUV

Best Car Ever — The Cherokee remained virtually unchanged from 1984-2001, and there is a good reason for that: it was the perfect mix of size, weight, and style to last through the ages. Plenty of power, great handling, superior off-road performance, and the best value out there. It is cheap and easy to maintain, and I have never been stranded by this or my previous Cherokee. The only reason I replaced my '95 with this one was a head-on collision with a Buick a few years back. With a combined speed of 70+mph, I walked away and replaced with the same car because it was the total package, and I was blown away by the safety for such a lightweight SUV. Best car I have ever owned/driven. Primary Use: Commuting to work
