Well, My Neon's Daddy Is A Hemi Road Runner. Who Is Your Cars Daddy? — well it is a very light car, just over 2000 pounds. it had great acceleration and gearing (mtx). could stop on a dime. could handle just about any corner better than your average car was very clean with no rust. and it also had great gas mileage. like 35-39 while i owned it needed a powersteering pump, acouple of belts, tires, a pair of shifter cable bushings, and i think that is about it, other than im putting in a motor this week after about a year of it sitting. i redlined it for about 3 years.

Winter Beater And Long Distance Driver. — I like that I only paid scrap prices for a vehicle that runs and drives and its only major problem is the alternator and power steering belt has a high pitched screaming noise whenever you start, drop under 45 after doing 50. | ||

Never Purchace This Car. — This car is horrible. The build quality is not good. Everything breaks on this car very eaisly. I actually thing i might have spent more times fixing it than i have driving it. The car itself when it does run well is not too bad to drive the suspension is stiff at stock and the handling isnt too bad for an american car. Overall i would never recommend this car to anyone unless there were no other options. Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

Good Car, Good Gas Mileage — I bought this car 5 years ago and have put quite a few miles on it since I got it. This car gets good gas mileage and is fun to drive. This is one of those cars that if you take care of it, it will take care of you. I have had a few problems with this car, but it is an older car, so that is to be expected. Overall, I have had pretty good luck with this car and would buy another one, if presented with the opportunity. | ||

Surprisingly Fun Ricer. — My 99 Neon was one of the best cars I've ever owned or driven in my opinion. It was easy to modify, and had a great (for an inline four SOHC) response with good speed and accelleration, which I thank Mitsubishi for dropping their 420a's into them for Dodge. The gas would last forever in that car and you never really had to leave third gear unless you were on the high way. The gear ratios in that car were excellent with a snappy first and second with a more drawn out third (1st from 0-34 2nd from 35-60 3rd from 61-95 and 4th from 95-120+). When I drove it nicely (no racing or hot-rodding) it got about 35 mpg, when I was just bruning up the tires in a smoke show or pitting it against civics and the like it got somewhere around 25mpg. I took it up to 124mph in fourth gear and then had to lay off. It was a great car and I am very much looking forward to getting another one here soon. | ||

My Car — Why do I dislike my car??? Let's see- it's a 2 door and it's black and the AC doesn't work. This is not a great thing in 90 degree heat so I am sure you can understand my frustration. It is however great on gas which works to my favor with gas being so terribly high. | ||

2000 — Performance - there is a great aftermarket available, including motor swaps/build ups. Appearance - with the right wheels and paint anything can look good. Cost - other then regular maintenance items the car owes me nothing, spent 1200 on a replacement motor. when i got the car. Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

99 R/t — I've worked on these cars since 96 so I know them really well. Performance is great for what you pay for them. Cost is good as parts are very cheap and buying a Factory Service manual is cheap plus it helps you to be able to fix the car yourself. www.neons.org is a great site to learn alot about the car. |
