Pros

Love the body style, the looks, big tires, 4x4, plenty of space inside for my daughter and her friends and whatever else I need to transport. 5.9 360 :-), Power to spare. Clean user friendly cockpit, cup holders for those kids that aren't thirsty until they get in the car.

Cons

Transmission, Transmission and ohhh, did I mention the Transmission.... 4 speed + O/D. Supposedly it was rebuilt just before I bought it, Not shifting into 4th or O/D with out having to shift to neutral, let the rpms drop below 1K then go back to drive and it shifts. Could be minor problem with sensors.... Hoping so!!! If it doesn't have an external cooler for Tranny, get one. Keep fluids and filter changed with only dealer supplied transmission filters and ATF+4 only.

Feel Like A Kid In A Life Size Tonka Toy — Keep your transmission in check as well as changing your fluids as scheduled and she'll not let ya down. High maint. cost, but worth it. Interior has plenty of room for hauling whatever or how many ever. Use cruise control when possible to get every bit of mpg's as you can. Bought my 99 in 2012, 137000 miles and is still super clean inside, no cracked dash or borken plastic hear or there. Good interior quality. Only four speaker stereo system. If you like your tunes as I do, go after market with speakers and stereo. Handles great, stops on a dime, surprisingly tight turning radius. Thought it would be like turning a tank, but found it to be like any mid size car as far as the room needed to turn around or maneuver.

Pros

The power from the 360 (5.9) is the best in class .. Power, Ability, Price, Cost of Maintenance put this 'Rango in a Class by it self  *** upto 2001

Cons

Fuel Milage

The Price Is Down On These, Pick One Up For Fun ! — Next to the H1, Defender and Cherokee this is one of the best off-road vehicles made. With minor upgrades this vehicle can get you in some serious trouble ! This is one of the last 4x4's that can be worked on by a shade tree mechanic.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Its Great Family Truck As Well As A Daily Comute — i liked it that its a mid size truck that has the power of a full size. the 3 row seats & that they,ll lay down flat. could use some better gas milage, but for comfort, looks & dependability i really like this suv. only reson to sell it is to get into a full size 4 door truck for hauling & towing.

I Just Got It And Hope It Runs Good For Me For At Least A Year. — its green. i don't like that. has 180,000 miles on it. interior and exterior are in really good shape though. runs really good. acceleration is quick and the brakes are just right. all leather seats and the third row seat is nice.

Looking To Replace It — There are not enough perks to overshadow the continuing problems with it overall. I barely use the 3rd row, and it takes a bit of work to get anyone back there. I'm okay with the amount of space. The 4WD is nice.

Had Been A Great Vehicle For The First 140,000 Now Some Problems Are Coming Up — Has been a nice dependable truck we ordered direct from the factory with all options on it. Up until 2007 ran great. Now have been going through ABS brake lights issue and shifting problem which seems to be very common for these trucks. Looking for answers on how to fix since all I've been reading about from others is they spend hundreds of $$ and problems are not being fixed. Have heard stories of dealers and mech. sending the truck back unfixed saying we don't know how to fix it. Some one out htere must have figured out what parts need to be replaced to fix these problems. Thanks

transmission... vehicle caught fire.

Burn Baby Burn — BEWARE OF TRANSMISSIONS!!! its a wonderful SUV, and for its size the gas was not bad. however that transmission goes, say bye to your truck if it catches on fire!!!! I had a 6in Lift on it, 35in tires, rebuilt transmission and a extended drive shaft to make it all work.
