Pros

over 200,000 miles on it, a few replaced parts and a new head gasket later, still kick'in. Tows like a beast. After towing scrap for one full summer we replaced the brake booster, but no prob since.

Cons

average 16-17 MPG, 18 on a really good day. Hard to see blind spots to the rear which makes multi-lane, high speed, and tight traffic driving difficult.

Wonderful — Well over 200K and still runs like new. All the room for family to pile in and head out for whatever you want. Never been in shop for repairs other than routine maintenance. Gas mileage is OK for the size and weight of the vehicle. Brakes could be better but they will stop with adequate distance you don't tailgate in this baby

Prim Time Runner — Fun truck to go any where with. I can go to work, go up north with ALL the buds, hook an ice shack or trailer on or anything basically. Fully loaded with power everything, love the space hate the mileage. I can't wait to straight axle convert this hog! The vortec 350 is also a huge plus compared to the tbi or carb...

A Michigan Beast — One of the best vehicles ive owned, except the gas mileage. For it being as big as it is it sure will get up and go when needed, best thing to have in the winter other than a AWD vehicle.

Practicality Over Everything Else — Overall this suburban is a very practical car with plenty of seats and lots of cargo room as well as toeing capabilities, but style and efficiency aren not its strong points by any means. New generations of the suburban are much more refined.

Great Weekend Car For Camping Or Snow Trips. — Stillen suburban has lots of power with its supercharged 5.7 l engine. It also has 6 piston brakes in front, and 4 pistons in back. Brakes great . Has Bilstein shocks. No repairs so far. Gets only 17 mpg on a good day...normally only 13 mpg. Seats 9 people with seat belts. Has 5 TV screens, DVD, CD, TV, VHS, Playstation, dynamat sound proofing.

Love It — Love My truck has space and drives well. Just hate that as like all cars sometimes you have to fix and cant always do yourself. But the vortek motor is a dream beyond belief it gets up and goes. YES

Def Recommend This Truck For The Full Sized Suv Lover.... — Great all around truck, well built, easy to maintain, easy to repair, holds 8 passengers or seats fold down and remove for a full 8 ft enclosed bed, 5.7L LS1 has great hp and torque, passes on highway with ease even with many passengers or towing a trailer, shift on the fly tranfer case works great for the most part, rarely it will jam in 4-low....

A Great Machine. — I have 170K miles on it and have been blessed with a great vehicle. Taking care of it with 3,000 mile oil changes, tire rotations and scheduled maitenance has made this a real winner.

Pros

Big, tough, SAFE vehicle with lots of comfort features. Looks nice, drives pleasantly.

Cons

Any aging vehicle with lots of miles is going to spend the occasional weekend at the mechanic's garage...

Great Family Vehicle That We Get To Drive On Free Fuel! — We bought this truck ultimately to pull a travel trailer with, in order to replace our motorhome which gas prices had permanently benched. I have converted it to run on the waste vegetable oil that restaurants discard, thus currently saving us about $400/mo in regular fuel expenses. We already have about 40k miles on veggie oil, so the system has proven itself quite well. I bought the newest Suburban they put a Diesel (required for the conversion) in, but it's still a nine-year-old vehicle with plenty of miles... While we've had a few issues relating to its age, there have been no significant issues with the conversion thus far. It's so nice to still enjoy the freedom to jump in and take a Saturday drive to the mountains, etc., without pausing to consider whether we can justify spend the money on $4/gal fuel... We hope to put a trailer behind it this spring and resume the pleasure of camping together again. You can see more about it here: dieselplace.com/forum/garage.php? do=view&g=3908 Update 3/2014-- Well, we never did add the travel trailer. But we've added lots of miles and adventures to the ol' Burban. With around 320,000 miles now, it occasionally offers us some of the troubles typical of an aging truck. But overall, it's still a prized 'member of the family'. The original engine and tranny still run great! Recently I put pencil to paper to calculate how much money the veggie oil conversion (well over 125,000 miles on veggie oil by now) has saved us. If I'd spent the typical prices for Diesel fuel for all the nearly-free veggie oil I've burned during the past few years, I'd have spent well over $30,000 that I haven't had to!
