Excellent Purchase — see pros and cons. i used to be embarrassed by not having a new cars. but, i have NO payments, it's solid and in great, great shape.. And, why lease? it's the same as renting and never owning a thing! Besides, you'd have restrictions on use, etc. It's only been garaged these past 6 years. it's a '99 !! the acceleration is terrific, never had any, any major problems with it. simple stuff, oil, changes, battery, tires, the ususal maintenance. I'd actually consider another. Primary Use: Family transportation

Gs Rules! — SLEEPER! Buick smooth ride, stays flat in the corners with optional suspension. Factory Monsoon stereo rattles the windows. 4 wheel discs work well for a big car(3700 lbs empty). My average mileage is about 21mpg city and 33 mpg highway, although I have gotten as good as 37mpg on the highway. The factory supercharged V-6 is a strong runner and has surprised many tuners.

1999 Buick Regal 4 Dr GS Supercharged Sedan Review
ProsThis car is fast and handles and rides very well. I have owned a few European sports cars and I like the Regal GS as much or better. Comfortable, looks great drives very well...and it is FAST! The 3800 engine is nearly immortal, smooth and not bad on gas considering the size and weight of the car. Update My GS has the Touring Suspension Package, which is a heavy duty torsion bar and other heavier stiffer components. It is a GREAT road car. Just took it over an 80+ mile trip last weekend, and my brother, in his first ride in this Buick, remarked several times on the ride and handling. It is the best handling US made car I have ever had...and on this rare highway trip, the car averaged 33.6 MPG! In town, I am getting between 22-23 MPG, which is very good. ConsThere is a lot of plastic in the interior, and some of it is broken. The leather is OK, not highest quality, but it is still in very good shape after 13 years! Overall, not much wrong...It's a late '90's car, and they did things differently back then. Update- I find the blower for the heater/AC is not working, and I read that this is pretty common in the late 90's GM cars...should be a pretty easy fix though.

This Is The Best Us Made Car I Have Ever Owned...and I'm 65! — The overall styling of the Regal is very simple and it still looks very good 13 years after it was made. It's a good size, drives easily and has a lot of good features, more than I'm used to. I like the interior, but it is a bit plain, and I like real wood trim instead of plastic "wood" trim, but that was GM at that time. The older Olds Touring Sedan I had years ago had real wood...Progress, I guess. This car has the Monsoon Sound System-I have no idea what that means-I think it's an 8 speaker system with a radio and tape player. You can control the sound system from the steering wheel, which sounds odd, but it's very convenient. As far as I have seen, everything in this complex little car works! But it is pretty comfortable. The paint is amazingly good. The car has a few very minor dings and dents-it's 13 years old-but NO serious rust, and here in the PA salt belt, that's a real feat. The body is tight, trans and engine work well. Minor problems are mainly from use and wear over the years and miles-the blower fan will be replaced-bad bearings. The driver's window needs a new roller, the car needed new ball joints and links, and a new gas filler tube and exhaust work. Again, it has 186,000 miles and 13 years on it. I did have the oil and filter changed, and the trans flushed and cleaned. All belts, hoses and filters were checked, fluids added as needed and the car passed PA state inspection and emissions testing. The brakes are GREAT. Trans is smooth. Lights and all else works fine .Even the carpet and headliner is very good, which for a 13 year old car that was used by a family tells me something...the interior is a bit plain, but it is holding up all this time! I have some experience with this V6.it is one of the beast engines GM has ever made. Years ago, I drove a cab "between jobs", and they used '80's GM cars with the 3800 series engines...they ran them routinely for 300,000 miles, then rebuilt them and kept on going. They will go on forever if maintained. Parts are cheap and readily available, new and used, and there are lots of aftermarket things for these cars. Lots of people love these old GS hotrods. Drove it over 50 miles from the dealer home and I was getting 31.1 MPG on the PA Turnpike according to the driver info. I drove it in town today and the average is still over 29 MPG... Overall, this will be my fun car and I love it already...Glad I didn't buy that old Alfa Romeo... ADDED: I really look forward to driving the GS- I bought it to be an occasional use fun car, and it has been every bit of that. Handling and ride is the best of any US car I have ever owned over the last nearly 50 years. People have told me they thought it was a much newer car...one person thought it was new! It is very fast, and mine has the Touring Suspension Package. The road feel and handling are great, and only my old Fiat Spiders handled better. If you are looking for this type of car, find an old GS and give it a try...if you can find one for sale. Mine is NOT. mark Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

1999 Buick Regal 4 Dr LS Sedan Review
ProsI now have this vehicle since NEW in 1999. Today, November 22, 2011 i have 210,000 original miles. I could buy somehting new, but why when it looks fantastic and rides great! NO rot or dents. It is a great machine. Inside the drivers door states it was assembled in Canada. Yay for the US and Canada! Still i look at others, then know they ARE NOT solid as thisBuick. Mileage has been up to 26 mpg highway, which is actually pretty good. I give only oil changes, the usual maintenace, tires, etc, every 5,000 miles and i DO NOT tune it up! Never! I believe if i do they will mess up the timing or something so simple. Why fix it if it ain't broke. (Hey, i have NO PAYMENTS!) It still hold true to its promises. (I garaged it only the past 6 years. Otherwise, it can handle all weather. I preferred it to a 4WD and an AWD vehicle in deep snow. NEVER, ever got stuck. I work in an operating room, and on call i have to get there especially in snowstorms when the highways are shut down. Chrome and paint still shiney. Fools many ppl on its age. :D ConsWishing it would drive another 100,00 miles!

Best Vehicle I Have Ever Owned. Still No Reason To Get Rid Of It! — See "Pros" NO blind spots, aqueaks or 'weird' noises. Repairs are fair, yet, again i never had any. Weird, i know. I do drive it, it's just not sitting around either. Have taken it outta state many, many times. The control is GREAT! Simply teh Sport version came loaded with every promise affirmed. I look at the new Buick's. So happy they are here! Maybe IF this one EVER goes down, then i will definitely consider a new Buick - Hybrid!

Badass 3.8 Supercharged Gs — The ride is smooth and it is extremely fast for a sedan. !40K later put two front wheel bearings, new belts for the supercharger and water pump, and a new water pump which i installed on my own and had no problems doing so. Primary Use: Commuting to work

This Is A Family Compact Car With Powerful Engine — I like the GM 3.8 L engine it is a one of smoothest engine I have ever driven . I don't like regal low wheel base , I like to have more wheel base like on lesabre. A new steering intermediate shaft, along with the addition of a strut tower brace is the secret to more precise road feel and better steering response this year, which has never been Buick's strong suit. So So Regal — She just wasn't not maintained well by previous owners. The 3800 is a fantastic motor but has overheating problems. Gets good gas mileage and has plenty of power. But little quality issues plague this car, such as windows falling out of track, ignition won't shut off unless it cools down. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Am In Love — This car is more than awesome, luxurious, and very fast at the same time....one downfall though...electronic transmissions suck because of the cost effective ways that the factory has to produce them...but if you got the money you can make these transmissions last with mods... Prossolid, responsive, features, lots of potential for improved performance ConsCould use paint job, but keeps on keeping on

Will Keep And Modify — There are as many aftermarket performance upgrades as a person could ever want. Car is very de-tuned from the factory so as to be in line with what Buick figured would be the standard Buick buyer. Each mod or upgrade simply allows the car to reach its potential while not adversely affecting reliability or comfort. Primary Use: Family transportation |
