Pros

economy

Cons

boring

25

Boring — Boring car, but very economical. Not as good build quality as the 80s and 90s toyotas, but still far better than its rivals. Problems: brake pipes rust, ignition switch, doortrim lists breaks when cold, starter engine is worn. The 1.8 engine is too when car is fully loaded.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros

Nice looking, cheap, handles well, reliable, spacious, and it's a Toyota.

Cons

NONE AT ALL

Avensis — This car is just great. It's lightweight, it's got decent acceleration, the brakes are excellent(ABS). It hasn't needed any repairs yet. Also, it looks very nice, and has LOTS of space. It is cheap to own, and has decent gas mileage. The car is a pleasure to drive. All in all, an excellent car.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

nothing

Cons

everything, hated it.

Avensis 1.8 Gs — I was so impressed with the reliability of the Carina that when it was time to change it, I naturally bought one of these. From a main dealer you would expect a good car, yes? My god, what a bag of crap this was, oil leaks, seat belts that wouldnt work, broken heater, lethargic engine, all this in a 3 year old car! I was absoulutely delighted when it was stolen after 6 months of ownership.
