ProsIt is a decent car. Nothing special. A good looking Nissan SUV in 1998 still today. ConsNo complain yet in my opinion. I liked it the way it is.

A Good Choice Of Suv Selection For All Season City And Little Off-road Car — We bought this car when we first came to Canada which is 1998. My pathfinder is a high end model of 1998. It is a Nissan Pathfider "Chilkoot". It is V6 engine and low torque transmission. 0-100km/h with in 5-6 sec. Decent car for summer and winter. 2WD and 4WD no problem at all and depends which tires you are using. We are using Yokohama A/T for front and rear. The performance of this car obviously is not a sport car performance. It is sucks in fuel but little better than American SUVs. Braking is very sensitive and handling is decent because we are using the KYB suspensions. Below 70 degrees turn with 50 to 60 km/h is not a problem because I tried it. The engine is V6 as I mentioned before. Quality for a 1998 high end Nissan Pathfinder is better than other Pathfinders such as LE, etc. Less repairs on my car. So far we having replace the radiator. Theres no A/C leakage so far. Engine is running great still today. We always use 5w-30 Valvoline Motor Oil with Lucas protection. Appearance is very good during 1998 and it is still looking good today. No rust appear on body so far. Good things is we got hard plastic bumper in the front and back. Inside it got metal bumper as well. When it comes to small car crash accident, it doesnt ruin the car appearance at all. Eventhough I dont like SUVs, I still like this car. It is fun to drive in city during summer especially winter. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsStability ConsBody rust

Over All Good Bush Vehicle — Once they start rusting... watch out. Once metal is exposed it gets nasty. Overall the performance is unexceptional, but it's got where it needs it. With smaller tires is very easy to park. The price is at the high end of the after market however if you get an aftermarket warranty then it's worth the price. Primary Use: Family transportation

Fabulous For Wheel Drive — Great Vehicle, only downfall is the gas mileage isnt the greatest. would buy another one for sure, the four wheel drive will be nice in the winter. seems to work great, no real problems with the vehicle yet. would totally recommend one to someone else Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsPowerfull engine and smooth suspension Conslousy job for the outside and inside.

Rokin' But Not For Showoff — I like the overall performance but I hate it's inside, and specially the back spare-wheel. It's hideous. I hate the CD player. It keep breaking down. Even when it is working OK, music keeps interrupted at every speed hump or rough road. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsNot a lot of rust for the north woods Consit could have a better sound system

Nissan Pathfinder — The bass on the car isn't bad and the overall sound system is good. The interior is quite nice nothing is ripped or falling off. The fact that it is a stick is amazing, it is a blast to do burn outs in and the E brake is hand operated so you can drift on dirt and gravel roads quite easily.

Pimpin Black — it has about 80,000 miles on it. it mostly a family car but i drive it the most. We got it in '98. its been through hitting a deer and a tree. It goes pretty fast but has bad acceleration. Pretty good interior. it is automatic. i like it a lot better than the mini van i use to drive.

1998 Nissan Pathfinder 4 Dr LE 4WD SUV Review
ProsThe pathfinder was great to transport the boat and trailer. The engine ran smooth for the time we owned it. It did not run like a truck. ConsThe gas pedal deveoped a build up which needed to be cleaned. This caused the pedal to stick, sometimes causing it to push hard to accelerate.

You Do Not Feel Like You Are Driving An Suv — We had the pathfinder for ten years. There is alot of room in the backseat and the trunk. The interior was grey with a fake carbon fibre finish on the dash. The exterior was green, and it did not have tinted windows.

Pros230K thousand miles and its still running very nicely and hope to put in some more miles in it. 10 years with us, 10 years...thats a serious relationship we have and one that will keep living for a long time. Love how durable it is, no signs of rust and strong. Still intimidates the other compact cars that stand next to it at the stop light. ConsI wish the rare suspension was better and well it is know with the new models but for the time it came out most SUV suspensions were like this. Also it has to much liter for the little horsepower it has but again something that the new models.

One Amazing Product — No long in my hands because it has been passed to another relative it's been 12 years with this SUV in my family and I've used it on/off. Only once could be consider that a mayor repair was made to it but the engine hasn't been opened yet for anything. Its Nissan yes and its a good product. I still see older models running on the street with no problem and this could be an SUV you would want to have for a long time if your intentions is to keep it over 5 or 6 years. The interior is very nice and at same time you can use it in the city but also in the outdoors if needed. Puerto Rico is a sunny island but sometimes heavy rain can fall anytime and depended where you are floods can happen. This SUV lets my family and I drive it with no problem. Nissan Pathfinder damn good product. Primary Use: Family transportation
