98 Maxima Reveiw — Maxima's are the best in it's class! The car is solid and I never had many problems with it besides unfortunate things that other people have done to it. The car is very roomy and it is still under 3000 pounds. Mine has 220k miles and it is still going

Prosthe cornering with the coil overs Consheat bogging with the intake when hot and humid

Not Bad For A Grocery Getter — Good but can always be betta. Recently converted to a 5 speed. Coil overs, Cold Air Intake, headers, slotted rotors, and exhaust make it more fun to drive. Need to work on appearance now. Possibly HIDs, and fogs would dress it up very nice. Very pleased with the performance after the mods Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

I Picked It Up Cheep, One Of The Best Buys I've Ever Made — Great car. Got power, handling and comfort. Great for cruising or racing. Sips on gas when cruising, has balls when you hit the gas. Cheep to insure and all around great! Nissan did right with the Maxima. Powerful sports car engine, with refined comfort of a sedan Primary Use: Commuting to work

260k And Still Ran Great.... — this car held up great had it for 5 years. did have to replace the transmission once around 180k and again around 240k but i'm hard on transmissions. this car was fun to drive and had great gas mileage one tank would get me from NC to MD with gas to spare. had a major accident in this car and came out with no scratches.. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosquick, decent gas mileage (24-30mpg), no timing belt to worry about, good looks (imo), lasts forever, holds 5 people, decent suspension, decent paint (still no rust and i haven't waxed it in over 2 years), base model (gxe) still has the most important power features, manual transmission works well once you get used to it and has good gearing (low and close until last two gears), auto transmission geared for better highway mileage (from what I hear) Consrear brakes are terrible (e.g., rear calipers seize up, even after being replaced - have to leave manual car in gear since ebrake doesn't work right), rear seats don't fold, ignition coils and some sensors died prematurely, substantial subframe rust (but NO body rust) , ergonomics not as good as that of hondas - nissans seems to resemble an american car more than most other japanese makes, have to watch the transmissions (both auto and manual trans are prone to failure if not maintained)

The Black Bull — This thing's a tank and it moves when you want it to. Decent gas mileage, quiet, doesn't look ancient 12 years after being built. It is a fun car to drive. Not quite as well thought-out as a Honda but it holds up about as well. The brakes are a constant problem but they can be ignored to an extent while still working alright since the front brakes work alright. The car doesn't rust as easily as most Hondas do. Parts are expensive but last a long time for the most part.

ProsV-6 5speed mpg build quality Cons115 mph limted

98 Maxima — This car has everything you need. Room for 5 adults. Fast. 0- 60 7.1, 100mph in 3rd gear. Good MPG's to. I about 25mpg. That is very good for a V-6 that 10 years old. I had this car 5 year and hoping to get another 5 years. They stop making this body 1999, and I see these cars everywhere so I think I'am in good hands.

Dave's Nissan Qx — Good performance, comfortable, handles well! Well built, only needed wiper blades for M.O.T. Washer pump had to be replaced, very cheap! Uses a lot of fuel, if driven hard.I try not to! Haven't had it serviced yet, must get it done soon! I Love it, it looks expensive........ My friend calls it a "council estate Lexus" What does he know? |
