Why Do You Think Government Agencies And Taxi Cab Companies Used These Cars For Years? — I have owned my Merc for four years and I use it as a daily commuter in and out of Boston (35 miles). Although they were equipped with a V8 engine, the 4.6L is a relatively small V8 compared to other V8's on the market in 98'. The engine has plenty of power to push the car along so it doesn't require much gas. I can get about 25 MPG on the highway. The gas mileage isn't what you can expect out of a Toyota or a Honda but this is a full-size, rear wheel drive, steel framed American luxury car. Interior is nice but the suspension tends to wear on these quickly because of their weight. Parts are cheap/popular, brakes work great and the seats are comfortable. Couldn't ask for more.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

1998 Mercury Grand Marquis Gs .... Great Car!!! — I really love my car. All my friends say ohhh its a grandma car. Sad thing is it will out-run just about anything any kid has at my school. And it handles verryyy well. It gets about 30mpg on the highway. It is very comfortable. Only bad thing is that this year had some minor defects with the cylinder heads. The metal was contaminated somewhat and some have blown the spark plugs out of the holes. Not too bad to fix unless you replace the whole cylinder head. OVERALL amazing car and i couldn't ask for more. Well i could but thats what performance modifications are for.

Beautiful And Fun — I absolutely loved this car its was in excellent condition. It had the same engine as a Mustang GT so the performance although not spectacular was decent for a big four door car. At least i was able to beat a Toyota MR2 and a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

My Whip — This is one bad larry, let me tell you. When you shift this baby out of park, there is a satisfying clunk when it finally engages into drive. Then, if you were to accelerate rather quickly, some of the A/C jibblets under the hood will start gurgling at you. And the traction, pfft, who really needs traction. The appearance was beautiful. Now it looks like a rusted out........ It ran fine before my boyfriend got his hands on it. KIDDING. Gas mileage....meh. With a 4.6 V8 that hasnt been tuned for I dont know...maybe 100,000 miles? eh. No. Its not fun to drive. Thanks :) bye.
