Jeep — This is my first car and it's the best first car that a kid could get. The performance on it is awsome has new brakes, and it has a throttle body spacer wich gives it more horsepower. The apperence is like no other jeep you have ever seen it has rubicon decals a rubicon tire rack and a full size tire on it. The fun factor is a 10 it's lifted so i go muding all the time and it beats and truck out there. IT'S A JEEP THING

Versatility Meets Fun — 100 bucks for a great versatile car. always starts, drives strong, 4 wheel drive. minimal signs of aging. very fun. classic design and legendary jeep performance. no bells and whistles, no unnecessary options, not much to go wrong. just me, the road, and whatever trail i feel like conquering.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

There's A Reason Jeeps Are Popular. — This thing just won't die!! But to be fair, I'm glad it hasn't. This truck's been through so much and keeps on kicking! It's cheap to maintain, solidly built and tough as nails. It'll probably still be running when I'm in my eighties.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Good Jeep — It's a Jeep so it needs work a lot. I like the looks, the ease of finding performance parts, the reliability. It gets good gas mileage, mine gets about 19 averaged both city and highway. Usually more on the highway, like 22, and city is about 16 I think. It's fun for me to drive, the stock suspension is soft which is good, I upgraded with a lift kit which is a lot more firm, makes it feel a lot more like a Jeep.

1998 Jeep Cherokee 4wd Sport — This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owne, hands down. She has 258,000 miles on her and everything works. I mean even the lights in the ashtrays. She runs smooth, starts every time, has never let me down, and has been up to her wipers in mud and water. I can't praise this vehicle enough. Too bad they went soft on us, joined the ranks of the Malibu, Impala, etc...

Shouldn't Have Sold It. — This was a great first car but with terrible fuel economy. Classic look that will never go out of style, plenty of room and surprisingly comfortable for what's basically a truck. It never broke down and could climb a tree. Ended up selling it to my next door neighbor, where it terrorized me for three more years, sitting there in his driveway.

Good Vehicle — The transfer case died at 85K miles. Had a used one put in for $800. Had to replace bake lines and complete front brakes (needed everything). They locked up while driving and caught fire. But I've had it 15 years and 94K miles I don't have all that much money in it.

Pros

Awesome for off-road, trail riding, sand, mud, snow. Mine's a manual, so that makes it that much better.

Cons

Fuel economy isn't the greatest. Usually get around 17 round town and 21 on the highway.

1998 Jeep Xj Cherokee Sport — I really like the capabilities of this vehicle, and it's only gotten stuck once since I've owned mine. Gas mileage again, isn't the greatest, but I'll sacrifice some MPG's to have fun and not worry about the snow during wintertime. Rust likes to eat it away as well :/

Pros

Great Handling on dry, wet or snowy roads (we have the top-of-the-line 2WD, AWD, 4Hi, 4Lo Transfer Case - HIGHLY recommended)
Great off road capability.
Great acceleration.

Cons

Gas Mileage a bit low (average around 15 mpg).
Minor wiring issues starting to crop up.
Bear in mind, I've now got nearly 200,000 miles on it and it is 16 years old.

Completely Satisfied - One Of My Best Vehicle Purchases Ever. — We absolutely love our Jeep. We will probably buy a second one to replace our Ford Taurus Wagon as our other winter vehicle. Our summer cars are both Sports Cars (a Mazda Miata and a Datsun 240-Z) so we're into good handling - and despite being an SUV, the Jeep Cherokee is a VERY good handling vehicle - we have Rancho Shocks on it and the suspension is nice and tight - it takes curves great. Also has very spirited acceleration. It is a blast to drive in snowy weather - nothing stops it (we have Bridgestone Blizzaks on the original 15" wheels for winter and a set of Goodyear Fortera TripleTreds on 16" Wheels for the rest of the year. Gas Mileage is a bit low compared to more modern SUVs (we average around 14-15 mpg). Now that it's getting older, minor wiring issues are starting to crop up (Drivers Door Speaker no longer works, 3rd Brakelight only lights if tailgate is open, Electric Window switches on passenger doors stopped working even when master switch is in "On" position, electric door locks only function when door is in certain positions). Fortunately, the Driver's Master set of switches for the windows still works - so I have all the control... :-) The Engines and Drivelines in these Jeeps go on forever - but as they age, smaller issues happen with wiring, alternator, etc. But bear in mind, I've now got nearly 200,000 miles on it and it is 16 years old. I remember a time when if one got 100,000 miles and 6 or 7 years of good service out of a car (or Jeep) one was doing good. Over all I'm completely satisfied - one of my best vehicle purchases ever.
