Pros

Very dependable and great gas mileage. Average 35-36mpg in town. Alternate between premium and regular octane seems to help both mpg and performance.

Cons

A lot of things needed repair at one time after I purchased it.

Great Used Car At A Small Price — Since my 2000 Civic SI was stolen, I needed to replace it. Found this one locally for about 2k. One owner and clean interior. Average Exterior. Had to repair both window regulators, brakes, headliner, 2 tires, A/C service. Timing belt was done at 140k ( I bought with 148k on car ) by a dealer. . If this car can now maintain its dependablity and performance ( mpg ) for another 50-60k it's will be a great investment. Forgot to mention, buy silicone or hondabond. Most of this generation ( 90's Civics ) tend to had water leaks in/around and end up in the trunk with spare tire. I have slowed mine down substancially by sealing underside or trunk where seams are.

Good Car Tons Of Potentail — haven't had any major done just routine maintenance. i only paid 4 ,000 for the car and insurance is cheap.so i don't have many complaints. i think this car is a blast to drive. it has a lot potential if you are willing to invest the money into it.

If You Love Import Cars Like I Do, Then This Is A Car For You! — Everything works Perfect! The car car runs really smoothed, the gear shifts really good, and the car is very fast! This import car is a one of a kind! This car very fun! Take it for a spin and you would be Surprise!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Best Car I Ever Had So Far! :) — Nothing to say about this marvel... Only negative thing is the front light casings seems to tarnish wish gives a crap car look and reduce lights effeciency at night... Other than that... You can load this car to the roof and even the roof itself and drive it for 4000 klicks and she well do a great job. Surname: Silverbullet

Lasts Forever! — I bought my '98 Civic brand new, replacing my '89 Civic, which got totaled. While I prefer the '89 to the newer one, I am one of those rabid Honda fans who love the fact that these cars run forever with minimal effort beyond routine maintenance. Yeah, it's got a small backseat, but I really only use that for storage anyway. My boyfriend plays keyboards and was looking at SUVs, and we discoverd that with my seats down, his 88-keyboard fit in my Civic and did not fit in the CRV! And accleration is slow, especially with the air conditioning on (I have to turn it off if I'm going uphill), but I can live with that if it means long-term reliability, dependability, and durability. Three reasons I liked my '89 better: exterior style was more unique, there was a trunk light, and for some reason in the '98, they put the cupholders right under the tape player. So if you have a drink in there, which means the cupholder lid is up, you have to remove the drink and lower the lid in order to put in or remove a tape! Does anyone test these things?

Beast Around Corners — This car is a beast around corners, but lacks performance as its running a little sohc vtec 1.3 motor. Its currently sitting on D2 adjustables and has front and rear struts. Fun to take it on windy roads like Scenic Drive.

the gas it saves and how low maintanance it is

Cons

its not a car for someone who wants an adrenaline rush unless you have the money for it

Idk — Needs some repairs and a nice new engine would be nice :) lol but I love the car, I put it through hell and yet it still keeps running. It accelaretes pretty well for an economically driven car but the rating of the car depends on the preference of the driver.

overall very reliable and good looking cars

Cons

If you're looking for instant power look elsewhere these need some work done first

'98 Civic Sohc Vtec — the suspension work makes it a lot of fun to take around turns along with the sound of VTEC kicking in is amazing. Its a little slugish off the line, I would really love the money for a B18C5 engine swap. I also want some Honda Fit HFP rims before next spring with some Toyo Proxes T1R rubbers
