98 Crown Victoria P71 — The police interceptor was a very fun and reliable car. The handling was decent for a full size sedan. The 4.6L engine only made 220hp but seemed as if it had much more. I ended up cracking the crankshaft in half and having to replace the trans, but other than that the car was extremely reliable. Ford 4R70W transmissions are junk! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsRWD, looks like a cop car, fun to drive. ConsGas mileage, accelerates slowly.

Good First Car. — Excellent first car. Guzzles the gas a bit, but quite safe and fun to drive. Rear wheel drive is phenomenal, the back end of this can slide out fairly easily. Can be hard to control in the rain or in gravel due to lack of traction control or a limited-slip rear differential, but still an excellent driver once you get the hang of it. Benefits of it being mistaken for a cop car include avoiding being pulled over and having people get out of your way on the freeway. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Awesome Car, Use It For Work, To Go To Work And School, Transport Family And Also Treat It As A Recr — great performance, built tough, basically a pick-up in car form, gas mileage is decent for how big the car is, approx. miles per gallon highway, very very fun to drive, people get out of my way on the highway for obvious reasons

Love It, Wish They Made A Manual Version Though! — This car is great, it has so much power on tap, just keep an eye on you're coils, 1 little malfunction and the car will miss quite a bit, but not until about 260 thousand kilometers so rest easy. It also handles great for a 4000 pound car!! Primary Use: Commuting to work

1998 Crown Vic Police Interceptor — Bought this car from a reputable source, it had 93,000 miles on it, drove very smoothly, fired up instantly and still keeps its performance and reliability 10,000 miles later. I had to replace a few parts, but my overall satisfaction with the car is up to the price i paid for it. if only it had a smaller appetite for gas. 12/17 just doesnt cut it anymore.

ProsThe experience of driving a massive "boat".. people slowing down on the highway at night when they think you're a cop.. roaring down the road, it's just a great car. I love it. ConsI guess the gas mileage, but that's about it, and that's not even terrible.

Fell In Love With It When I Sat In It. — This car was once a NH state cop car. It was then put on auction just under 100K miles, where the cop who drove it daily bought it and put a few more thousand miles on it. He then sold it, and after another owner, I happened upon it. The interior has some mark ups from when the electronics (laptop etc.) was hooked up to the dash; still can see the old holes for when the cage was in there. It's got a green paint job with the chrome package, and I took off the rims so it looks even sharper. Handles like a dream; it gets 22-25 miles per gallon, if you cruise her right. |
