1998 Dodge Intrepid Trims and Specs

A complete exterior redesign of the 1998 Dodge Intrepid revealed a sexier, more aggressive, sports-car type family sedan. The base model STD had a new engine this year, the 2.7-liter, 200-hp V6, to counter complaints of a not so powerful former 3.3 V6. Now even the base model Intrepid can fly.

Other standard features remained the same, including power windows and locks, intermittent wipers, air conditioning, power heated mirrors, dual front airbags, and cruise control. Fog lights were no longer offered standard, and the 16-inch wheels were demoted to 15-inch standard. ABS brakes, CD changer, lighted entry, and power-adjustable driver's seat were all options. The unbelievable horsepower and large interior give owners a fast, fun, yet comfortable ride. Annoying road noise, bad resale value, and extensive mechanical problems give owners stress and headaches.

A whole new design brings a whole new engine to the 1998 Dodge Intrepid ES, for those wanting that much more speed and pickup in their family sedan. A 3.2-liter, 225-hp V6 paired with AutoStick transmission powers the ES. In addition to the base standard features, the ES adds fog lights, 16-inch wheels, ABS brakes, power-adjustable driver's seat, keyless entry, and lighted entry. Options only availble on the ES are leather seats, traction control, and a trip computer.

At 19/29 mpg, this full-size roomy family car gives you great fuel economy along with great acceleration, handling, and comfort. Supportive front seats, leather interior, great family and cargo functionality, and of course its zippy engine are all winners in the eyes of owners. Awkward battery location, low front ground clearance,and high cost of ownership are losers.
