Grab Life By The Horns — Love it! Never lets me down anymore. Had a few issues when i 1st bought it, but we got them worked out over time. It is a huge gas hog, but thats expected with a V8. Doesnt ask for much matinence, can 500 on oil changes Only complaint is the rubber trim on the bottom of the windows rusted from underneath and causes the trim to flap in the wind while driving

Pros

5.9L V8 has more power for same gas mileage as the 5.2L.  With the luggage carrier, you really can seat 7 on a long trip if you need to, in a fair degree of comfort.  CD player with Infinity speakers delivers outstanding sound.  Kids can climb in and out easily with the running boards.  Gas mileage (15-16 range) not significantly worse than the V6 minivan (18-21).

Cons

If you really want to tow 7000 lbs. over high mountain passes, get a diesel.  This rig can do it, but it does slow down when you're climbing a couple thousand feet at 6% or 7% grades.

Rugged Performance, Good Value — I ordered this vehicle from the factory with the options that would later be grouped as the R/T package, in fact, pretty much every option but the engine block heater, which I probably should have done. It's been to Montana in the winter, and up and down the west coast of the US, often towing a 28 foot travel trailer, with bikes or skis on the roof racks. Handling and traction in dicey road conditions has been superb, even while watching Subarus sliding out of control across my path. There have been occasional repairs, but I think we have gotten our money's worth, owning this vehicle for the last 10 years.

Failure! — Will never own a first year model 'anything' ever again! This truck has been a mechanical nightmare from very early on. Only good news is that with 170K I haven't replaced the transmission yet. Understand the newer Durangos are far more reliable but not enough for me to chance owning another.

Durango — I thought it was a good and reliable car. I didn't have many issues wit it.The car was used a a family vehicle and we utilized the backset often for the kids friends. When the third row was down it was roomy enough for transpo of the dog and we even used it once or twice to load up to move out of our appartment.

Good Rider — Great to drive, rides smooth. Good power and decent mileage for 318. Looks good as well, seats seven so always lots of room. Good off road capability and on just as good on pavement, and of course the fact its a dodge.

Has a nice sound if you ignore the squealing belt and clack, clack, clack

Cons

not economical, ugly as sin

Lovely Pile Of Metal — Horrible mileage, runs like crap, knocks and pings, squealing idler pulley, warped brakes, terrible stopping power, no giddyup, unusable dipstick tube (oil), it's freaking BARNEY PURPLE, ok, the paint code says dark amnethyst... but it's blurple to me. All of that being said, i love driving this glorious POS.
