Pros

OK gas mileage.
Good handling.
Fun to drive.
Convertible.

Cons

Power, even with the V6 she is a bit weak in the knees.
Parts! Mopar parts are over priced and after market parts suck.  example: the autozone thermostat ($13) needs to be replaced annually.  The Mopar  thermostat is $53 and only lasts ~4 years.

Fun Relitivly Low Cost Convertable. — I purchased this car in 2000 with 60K and has been a rock solid reliable for the last 14 years. Luckily (or unluckily as there is not one good mechanic in the Chicago metro area and was forced to learn everything to fix cars) I do almost to all my own maintenance (and now learning body work as the repair from my last accident was botched by Feeny Chrysler in Elgin.) Beyond the every 6 month oil change I've had to: Replace the passenger side front wheel bearing (4X); Replace the driver side front wheel bearing.; Replace the full front suspension. ; Rebuild the overhead valve train and replace the Spark plugs and wires(around 100K).; Replace the Air Conditioning Compressor and dryer. Last summer (7/14) at auto-zone Reno, NV; New breaks every 25K; Three sets of tires (and ready for the forth); Two batteries; Alternator; I plan on doing a full bare metal overhaul to the car now and looking for a 97-00 v6 2.5 as parts car in the Chicago land area. Note: Some of the replacement parts are a result of how hard I drive her (she's a sports car and I demand that performance out of her.)

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

I Loved This Car. — I miss it. I would drive it now if I could. It was passed down to me and It only has 130,000 miles on it. I love convertibles and because it was my first car, those are the only cars I will ever drive now!

Great Affordable Fun Car. — The Sebring is fun to drive, and is the ultimate tanning machine, if your into that of course. The body style of the 1998 is sleeker, and more sporty than the newer models. Its an eye cactcher just being Stock, so after the Custom exterior paint is applied, people will stare instead of just look.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Low overall cost of ownership so far.  Some minor electrical problems which Chrysler is known for.  Excellent fuel economy averaging as high as 30mpg on highway.

Cons

Maintenance for the DIY'er is difficult at best.  Spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor are hidden beneath the intake manifold plenum.  Belts are hard to reach.  Looking at or replacing the battery requires removal of the driver's side front wheel to access a hidden compartment where the battery lives.  This car is an owner/operator/mechanic's nightmare!

Wish The Design Was More Intuitive When It Comes To Repair Work — The 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertible, unlike its 1998 Sebring hardtop brothers, is a Mitsubishi-engined Dodge Stratus/Chrysler Cirrus hybrid. The vehicle was designed to be a convertible from the ground up. Stronger frame bracing, a streamlined design, and excellent handling come together to create a car that really hugs the road as well as provides many years of trouble-free driving to its lucky owner.

Best Look Piece I've Ever Owned — Unless you want your car to spend more time in the garage than on the highway then I would not recommend this car to anyone. These cars have a history of brake, distributor, crank sensor, ball joint, Egr valve, and transmission problems....of course, cause its a chrysler. Well I bought this car last fall for $1,500 after I hit a deer with my stratus. It looked like a sharp car and the the body and interior where in excellent condition and to top it off it only had 115K, which i would later learn is way tooooo much for a chrysler to handle. Even since I bought this car I having been working on it. The worse part about it is when its having an issue it either doesnt give me an error code or some lame code like "multiple cylinder misfire" which could be just about anything. One morning I went to start it up and it was acting like it was out of gas and would not turn over...even though it had a full tank of gas. It turned out to be a bad relay on the firewall thats not even listed or shown in my Chilton or Hanes books. Then I got the infamous "multiple cylinder misfire" and swapped out everything in the ignition system (plugs wires, "by the way you have to take off the upper intake to get at the back three plugs/wires and alternator" distributor, and even the PCM "Powertrain Control Module..aka the computer" and nothing fixed the problem. So I took it into the shop and they had to keep it overnight and it turned out to be a sticking Egr Valve. So my advice is to not only stay away from this car but all chrysler vehicles in general. I can see why they went bankrupt and Ford didnt even after gettin all that bailout money.

Sebring Jxi — Handles like its on rails, pretty quick. This car is awesome in the summer. I can put the top down baby, and I have a pretty loud system (bump in the trunk). Gets about 20 miles to the gallon. The only downfall is the dear dent in the driver side fender.

1998 Chrysler Sebring Convt. — My baby is awesome. It has been wonderful to me since I first got my license! She has needed a new ignition...my bad...too many keys. There is nothing like driving a drop top and letting the wind blow through your hair and having the system cranked up. It is silver with black leather interior and is a sweet ride. Everyone looks at you and all your friends want a ride. The gas mileage is ok and it is a V6. She just needs to be maintained well...just like all cars
