Pros

Reliable, well built, and a great work truck

Cons

Some may consider it too basic and boring

1998 Chevrolet C1500 W/t — This is my grandfather's RCSB C1500 (i.e., 2WD) W/T with the L35 Vortec 4300. He bought it secondhand out of a lease when it was six months old and has owned it since. Compared to my K1500 Cheyenne, it definitely feels more responsive, agile, and easy to drive due to it having a two foot shorter wheelbase. It feels like it gets up and goes just as easily as my truck, too, since it lacks the weight of 4WD system and extended cab. It's quite basic (power nothing, vinyl floor, but does have the 4L60-E automatic), which is the way a true work truck should be. All my truck has on it is cruise control and carpet, though! To my knowledge it's never had any major work done, which is no surprise. Hopefully we'll still have this truck around for years to come!

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Chevrolet 400ss — Really nice ride, fast, excellent handling. Love the exterior appearance and the looks inside are amazing. The gas mileage is really low, but that's what you get when you have a 5.7L v8 under the hood. And it's really fun to drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Great Truck — Great truck. Works perfect for the business. very fast when needed, and not too bad on gas. Has a large tank so only need to fill up once a week. The body is in great shape, and no mechanical/electrical problems. Its lifted with a 6 in. rough country suspension lift, and has 33 in. tires

Good Truck — good truck all around, for a truck it was pretty fast, the interior was perfect, the exterior had some wear and tear, but normal for a ten year old truck, fun to drive, gas mileage was not the best in the world

Like A Rock. — Performance- Obviously, being a '90s pickup with 305 cubic inches that ignite 235 horses/280 ft.-lbs., this truck isn't a rocket by any means. But it does have it's get-up-and-go, but the transmission is a bit hesitant. Handling obviously sucks. Tons of body roll, understeer, steering feel is NOT there at all, not too agile, there's play in the wheel. But, hey, this is a pickup and these were the days where they weren't Cadillacs. The braking itself is good, but the pedal is unbelievably mushy and it's beyond numb. Build Quality- Well, since I've beaten the hell out of this, I have broken stuff. Like two axles, distributor cap and rotor, power steering pump, and a wheel hub, but I also got it at 180K. Now it's at 200K. Original drivetrain including transmission. The interior obviously leaves much to be desired in terms of structure, fit-and-finish, ergonomics, and materials, but it's not absolute crap. It's held up very well. Other than those things I've mentioned, this baby's solid. Doors shut solidly, engine purrs, not many creaks and rattles, everything works normally--nothing's loose or seized. Appearance- The interior, though bland, isn't bad looking. It's just kinda there to hold the HVAC system and radio and to cover all the wires and good stuff like that. The exterior, however, is gorgeous. In my opinion. This bodystyle of the Chevy pickup is one of the best-looking. Simple, yet classy. This truck looks like it was made to work. Cost of Ownership- Gas mileage obviously isn't anything spectacular, but I do get better than the EPA figures. At least in the summer. I get 16.5 MPG or so combined, and in the winter, I get about 14 combined. It's rated at 12 City/17 Highway/14 combined. And I've gotten 21 MPG on the highway. But as I have broken a few parts from taking it offroading and getting the front end airborne, sending it through deep puddles at 30 MPH, and flooring it on occasion. But I'm willing to pay for it. The most expensive thing I've broken on here so far is probably the wheel hub (which wasn't really "broken", just the bearing was humming and ABS sensor was shot) which was about 120 bucks or so. I can't remember. But it had the ABS sensor in it which shoots up the price. Fun Factor- Obviously you can't take it to a track, but it is a lot of fun to take out on the trails, make it do donuts in the street and rainy roads, powersliding in the snow and locking right into the snow when the 4X4 is on. It's also fun when you're at the beach and you can chill out in the back of it.

gets bout 20mpg, hauls ass, actually pretty fast, solid, very reliable, air conditioning and heating works amazing

Cons

interior gets real hot from the sun,  fan belt squeaks sometimes, makes a clunking noise when you let off the brake

1998 Chevy C1500 — Performance- hauls ass, sounds good when accelerating and when it's started cold Build Quality – has needed repairs, tranny went at 200,000kms (perfectly normal), fan belt squeaks sometimes, makes a clunking noise when the brake is let off Appearance –no rust, get good comments on the appearance, many scratches in the paint, and it shows lots of dirt, i wouldn't say the interior is the best, and it gets very hot from the sun, but the seats are comfy Cost of Ownership – gets about 20mpg Fun Factor – well, since its a truck, i wouldn't know what to say i'd recommend this truck to someone that needs a reliable, solid, economical truck....makes a very good work truck

Awesome Built Truck — Chevrolet trucks are well built trucks that are sometimes hard to get the right truck due to they sell as quick as they are put on a lot. Power is great for the 5.7 350 V-8 have always liked them.
