1998 Chevrolet Astro 3 Dr LT AWD Passenger Van Extended Review
ProsGreat towing & handling for a van, AWD is fantastic in snow, very luxurious- 4 Captains chairs & rear bench seat, very roomy, 18-20 hwy. ConsDoesn't like a heavy foot, guzzles gas when towing -11 mpg on 2K lb trailer.

Just Purchased, 117k, Perfect Condition, Luxurious Interior, Seats 7, Great For Trip S. — I just purchased this Van and drove it from Colorado to NYC & back it was a dream. 117k on it now, probably time for plugs amd spark plug cables, yes? Runs pretty smooth, but seems to miss a tiny bit when idling. Don't think the compression is uneven -may smooth out when s clean the sticky throttle body. Changed from dealer oil to Mobil1 high milage 10w-30 with 1/2 quart of Lucas Synthetic Oil Conditioner (used this combo on my diesel for years & really get better fuel milage). Want this van to last 300-400K like some I've read about. Owner for 0 years, 1 months Miles Driven per Year:10,000

1998 Chevrolet Astro 3 Dr LT Passenger Van Extended Review
ProsI bought my first used 1998 Chevy Astro van from a car dealer back in 2008 for $2500, it was the best buy I ever made. I like how the van is wide and has a lot of room when you take out all the back seats. I was able to fit a King size eight inch Futon in the back compartment, I always get a good sleep in the van and never go to work tired. The vehicle is able to carry a lot of weight, I've driven this van all over California. I drove the van through very high mountains in Oregon state on my way to Seattle Washington for federal govt. work. The van has a great rack mount on top, I purchased an "Explore Sports Storage" for all my weapons and ammunition. I like how the side windows open up on both sides of the vehicle bringing in fresh air when I sleep in it at night. Chevy should continue to produce this mini van, its great for survivors and people who just like to purposely live homeless and work a job. I've saved over $15,000 living homeless in this van. :) ConsThe van is bad on gas in the city, but better when driving long distance on the freeway. The auto theft system sometimes malfuntions disabling the vehicle to start up. The front seats should be able to move back further for big tall African-American guys like myself. The maintenance is to expensive on the van to change things like the spark plugs or alternator.

The 1998 Astro Van Is Good For People Who Are Survivors. — I use to live and go to work in a 1970 Volkwagon bus which was good on gas but lacked power. The Astro van has more power when driving up hills and can carry more things. I don't have to worry about pushing the van up the hill anymore. :) Primary Use: Commuting to work

I Love My Van — I have owned 3 of these van's and I love them I am sad that Chevy no longer makes them. they are good on gas, lots of room. it seats up to 8 and still have cargo room. the whole family can load up and go look at Christmas lights or I can pull my jet ski to the lake Primary Use: Family transportation
