Pros

Runs great even after as many miles as I have in it - pulls like crazy when towing

Cons

Oil changes and Ford engineering...Ford has a tendency to occasionally put special bolts or drain plugs or oil filters...etc and so on, in the tightest corners or in places you can't get to without a special tool...not cool in my book.

Definitely Worth The Deal — Looks pretty good, handles really well, engine has a good bit of power and is a reliable engine (198000 miles on mine), I've had to replace the front transmission seal and replaced the torque converter at the same time, fuel pump wasn't too bad of a change, all in all this vehicle has been pretty easy to get back to a decent SUV.

1997 Mercury Mountaineer V8 — Bought it used with 21K miles. Now has 162K miles and no major problems. Only fairly major problem was having to have the Heat/AC distribution box assembly replaced. Since it had 150K+ miles on it at the time, I also had the heater core replaced at the same time. Total cost $1K.
