1997 Lincoln Town Car Signature Review
Prosthe ride, the looks, the sound system Consonly complaint I have is the door hinges weren't adequate to support the heavy doors. They'll have to be replaced at some point.

I Wish To Hell They'd Resurrect This Body Style And Paint Color. — I've owned five Town Cars in my life: two 88s, a 94, 95 and this one, the last of its kind before Lincoln rounded off all the edges. Many consider them vehicles for the graying. But I adore this lap of luxury. Always have!

ProsSoft, pillowy ride, roomy cabin, huge trunk, runs on regular gas. ConsSucks gas, but expected from a large car. Oddball factory audio system.

I Have No Reason To Buy This Car. — Yet I bought it anyway. I can rationalize that I needed a bigger car, with actual back seats, for when people visit from out of town. Truthfully, it'd be more economical to rent a larger car when need arises. I can rationalize that I needed a winter car when it's cold outside. Truth is with it's small cabin, thin firewall, and cloth seats, the Miata will warm up a lot quicker than this. With both cars being rear drive with no traction control, the Lincoln might have a slight advantage in rare Georgia icy conditions only because of the sheer amount of metal I have around me due to its size. I drive them both nearly equally, though I favor the Town Car more for longer interstate commutes because it'll burn less gas than in mixed driving. But I do enjoy this car and don't regret buying it. It's been rock solid so far. There's an open Ford recall on the cruise control module that needs to be done. The part is on national back order so right now the cruise control and horn don't work. CC isn't entirely necessary in Atlanta traffic, but a horn would be nice. My middle finger is getting tired. I love the soft ride aided by the air suspension. I specifically wanted a Town Car just for that reason, something diametrically opposed to a Miata riding on 40-series 17s. And the trunk, it's comically huge. I only keep a small ice scraper in it. Plenty of room for a subwoofer. Service date: 12 October 2007 to present. Gasoline used: 87 octane over 2100 miles, averaging 20.66 mpg. Per gallon price ranged from $2.639 (10/19/07) to $2.959 (12/30/07).

If You Want A Nice Roomy Car To Go Out On The Town In Or Vacation, This Is The One! — I have gotten great feedback on the look of this car. I have had to make a few minor repairs, yet the transmission and engine are very strong. It is great to drive, I want to keep it, but I need more room. The 22" rims makes it stand out. Gas wise it great on the road, but okay in the city if you keep up the maintainence. Primary Use: Family transportation

Town Car Rocks Lol — This car is awesome, it can take a beating and is a blast to drive. lots of room, 4 doors, big trunk, nice sound system, looks pretty sweet, good engine to make fast and is reliable. Mobster car for sure. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsComfort, reliabilty. ConsIf you're looking for performance, don't get one of these.

Great Commuter If 20 Miles A Gallon Is Acceptable. — Pinnacle of straight luxury. Don't think you can race in one of these, but you won't be hurting for power getting on a freeway or up a hill. Slow down for turns... way down. It's two tons on car on a truck frame. Easy ride like driving a leather couch on a pillowed suspension. Gas mileage isn't as bad as an SUV, so for a lot of freeway miles, you could do a lot worse. Primary Use: Commuting to work

I Love Lincolns — I liked the ride, the available space and the fact that I got fairly good gas mileage for a large car. It was enjoyable to drive. This is my 2nd Lincoln Town Car and the 6th in my immediate family. I would recommend to everyone. I \t was in excellent condition no repairs needed no rattles.

ProsPowerful engine, built like a tank, comfortable interior ConsGas mileage, turning radius, super sized

1997 Lincoln Town Car — When someone looks at my 97 Town Car, they don't view it as a threat. However, this car is a trooper. I beat my friend's 1999 Audi A6 in a 0-60 drag the first month I had it. It can get there in under 9 seconds, which is pretty good for such a heavy car. The wheel turns like butter, but the radius could be better, but braking is pretty good. This car is built like a tank, durable and strong. However, this car is built with style. It doesn't look as streamline as new cars, but it stands out in a crowd. Warning: if you buy this car, expect to pay 70 dollars for a fill up in the meantime averaging 13 city 20 highway. But, if you dont mind gas, you will love this car!!!

Like Driving A Couch — This car is all about comfort. I often say it is like driving around on my living room couch. It has an eight-cylinder engine that responds to the request for acceleration and speed. I love the digital dash; wish my car had it. The mileage is not bad either; I get about 22 miles to the gallon. All in all, if you find one of these that has been kept up, you should seriously consider owning it |
