Pros

If you can balance the horsepower and torque it's a great drive

Cons

Gas Gauge drives me insane

95

A Broken Beauty — I like the fact that the torque picks up great but the fact that the stock horsepower doesn't back up that amazing torque leaves you pouring in parts to balance it out for a good run time. Mileage isn't too bad. Gas gauge acts weird. Have True-Dual Cherrybomb Glasspacks. Sounds like a ricer. Euro Tail lights. Needs new shocks. Transmission needs work. has an oil leak.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Convertible V8, do i need to say more?

Cons

high maintenance costs

If You Get A Chance To Get One, Get It! — Amazing performance and acceleration. LOVE the V8 engine. Very low traction though, easy to spin out. Intake manifolds on this model have a lot of problems, like with mine. GREAT sporty look! Not great mileage, but not as bad as you would think, expensive parts. SUPER FUN car to drive.

Pros

Great power with excellent MPGs!

Cons

No grease ports for the front axle joints.

Awesome 1997 Mustang — I love this car! Even with the V6 engine, it pulls hard from 1,9000 to 3,000 RPMs and can easily smoke the all-season tires from a stop. It must not have ABS because the brakes will lock up in a pinch. I've tested the gas mileage various times and consistently get 23 MPG city and 33-34 MPG highway with the 5-speed manual transmission. It now has 166,000 miles on the odometer and I've never had major engine repairs necessary. A slight amount of plastic in the interior is the only drawback I see. I added an after-market spoiler for the sake of appearance...but it could use new lifter arms for the trunk since it was originally not equipped for the added weight of the spoiler. It's fun to drive and the factory cruise control makes highway driving easy. There are a few squeaks and rattles now, but considering mileage I'm not complaining. One thing to consider is that it does not come with grease ports for the front axle joints. This has developed a squeak problem when the outside temperatures get over 80 degrees. Overall, it's a great car and I recommend it in every way!

As Long As You Take Care Of This Beast It Will Never Fail To Smoke Some One Next To You. — I bought this car with 125k miles. There is no leaks except for rear differential which is an easy fix. I have put on a MAC H pipe custom exhaust with out catylatic converters and it sounds like a cobra. Since it sounds like a cobra why not make it look like on with the cobra front end, suspension, brakes, emblems, and decals. Every person asks me if this is a cobra and I say in ways. This car may sound tough but it is slow. Yeah so what if you can floor it at 20 mph in first gear and the tires will smoke. I was going 120 mph and shifted into 5th and the cars front end sank faster than weights in water. So this car has been a great to me with 185k miles and still no leaks. I fixed the rear differential and only replaced a clutch and a key phob. This car is reliable, sick, and the coolest car to be made.

Pros

Excellent acceleration, the styling and exhaust note got a lot of looks around town.

Cons

cheap looking interior (didn't have the leather package either), a fair weather performer only, easily matched or beaten by cheaper turbo imports.

Excellent Entry-level V8 Power, Beautiful Styling, A Nice First Sports Car. — I bought a used 1997 mustang GT when I turned 17, it was black with a mustang svt cobra front end and hood on it. I modified all the piping including exhaust to up the power to the 300 mark (from 285). An excellent car but too many people have one.

Car Is Very Fun To Drive And "play" With — Being RWD the car has great handling in ideal conditions, has great braking, and being a V8 has great acceleration It is built great, it has typical noises that come with aging of a car The convertible top is a great plus in the appearane/style Gas mileage is typical of a V8 and maintenance is pretty average

Pros

This car travels with ease over the Rocky Mts. I have never wished for more power.  In late autumn when it is too chilly to have the top down I put it down anyway, roll up the windows, and crank up the heat. Having the windows closed traps the heat in the front seat.  I do the same thing in the summer with the air conditioning when it is too hot.  This works great as long as you don't have passengers in the back seat.  You can't beat a convertible on a summer night with the top down, (also a great way to view fireworks).  I love this car but have to sell it because meds I am taking make me too sensitive to be out in the sun anymore. If I keep it I'll be too tempted to drive it in the daytime. I hope whoever buys it gets as much enjoyment from it as I have.

Cons

Legally you can only transport 4 people since it only has 4 seatbelts.

"funnest" Car I Have Ever Driven. — What I didn't like about this car is that when my gorgeous teenage daughter drives it she gets flirted with too much. My only other complaint is with the size of the trunk. It is deep but the opening is not very big.

Great Car — i love my 97 its a great car has over 200k miles it still runs like a crap the body all beaten up but it wants under the hood that matters the V6 has good bit of power the car as a little bit leg room meaning not fat guys can drive it but that a good thing very little issues with it just all around great car

Pros

The color of the car, the stance of the car, the car's appearance, the performance of the car, the amount of aftermarkets goodies for this car and if you have the V6 version of this car don't beat yourself up it is great to drive

Cons

Most of things that I hate aren't even the cars fault it personal needs from the cars since I got it in bad shape, overall I enjoy the car.

Great Car In The Looks Aspect, The Performance Is Great — This car is probably the best thing I have driven. Performance on this car even though it is a V6 is great still very peppy and there is an underlying growl from the exhaust that will exhilarate anyone and make them think that they actually are driving a V8. As mentioned performance is great from either the automatic trans but I have noticed its more fun to drive in the manual trans version plus quicker acceleration and probable better gas mileage. Even though my car's build quality is low since I have had to repair a few things from the steering column to the starter and now the cooling fan these cars in better condition are great and very reliable. Appearance is great from the aftermarket goodies you can add on to this car from racing stripes to Dual Exhaust conversions if you have the v6. Gas Mileage varies on how well maintained the engine is I think it gets 19-21 city and close to 30 highway its very good for the V6 the V8 with the economy nowadays is a little expensive. Overall great car to drive for some real fun on a moist/rainy day slam on the gas either in a parking lot or from a cross street great tire spinning fun :)
