Its Pretty Decent — It gets me from A to B. Runs well, gas mileage is pretty good handling is decent, needs some repairs but that just happens with age. Has a hole ion the exhaust, which needs to be replaced. Needs new rotors and break drums they are rusty. but he break pads are fine. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsExcellent durability and driveability ConsHead Gasket/Front End Issues, a little sluggish off the start

Never Say Never To The Neon — For what it lacked in over-all performance (even though with the 5-speed transmission it was pretty quick), it made up for in durability and driveability. The car was just short of indestructible and an excellent winter driver. It's still humming along after the front end and head gasket were done (a major flaw in all Neons from that era). Primary Use: Family transportation |

ProsGood accelaration and braking, good looks and styling. great gas mileage ConsNeed some mods to make it a more fun to drive.

Fun Car Little Car To Bad They Stopped Making Them — Performance is good it accelerates quickly as it is has had some mods done to it. Braking is awesome, stops on a dime. And handling well in all but the tightest corners. Sure I have had some typical repairs and few major job but the cars is 12 years old now and some things are expect so build quality is good. Gas mileage has been improved with my modifications but it never was bad. $40 t fill a tank at most. And the car is plenty fun to drive. I love even the short drives to work. I recommend the car but I would also recommend doing the mods I did to release the beast in this car. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Cheap And Fun Way To Get From Place To Place — accelerates very nicely, brakes exellent, handles like a hot wheels. very few things go wrong with it except for scheduled maitanence, no squeaks or rattles. looks somewhat sporty, interior could look a little better. excelent mpg's, low maitanence cost. FUN!!! Primary Use: Family transportation |

Great Car — its one of those cars that pull up next to u and they rev the engine and all u see is rust and a bad paint job but u race anyways and it blows u out of the water great acel good braking great handling has a slight wobble when the speedometer is burried at 120 30 mpg as long ass i keep the lead out of my shoe maintnace is mostly my brakes as the car sat for a year and a half in a mud puddle Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsIt gets reasonable gas mileage and is practical. ConsIt's not a sportscar that's fo sho.

Cute But Small — It's not much of a car..It's how you drive it. The performance is good,if it was a minivan. The exterior is sporty but dinged up from a previous owner. Pretty standard maintenance. I baby it, but it's a neon. I had a good after market stereo system, but it was stolen. That made the drive more..fun. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsCompact, fun, cheap, easy to work on and upgrade ConsHideously ugly, apparantly plagued by technical problems.

While It Is A Fun To Drive Car, Its Place Might Be Best As An Intro-tuner Than A Reliable Daily. — For the era that the car was released in, it had class-leading power and handling (Even going so far as to include a model with stock-adjustable springs and shocks, as well as an additional "R/T" option that made hooking up nitrous much easier) that beat out even the legendary Honda Civic. However, being that it is still a 2 liter saloon, the car does have its limitations. The car mostly suffers from its horrible-looking interior and purely ugly exterior treatments. Another huge problem that, while I personally never experienced, numerous people claim the Neon to have all sorts of problems with breaking down and other systems failures. Equipped with the manual transmission (as it should be), the car is quite fun to drive, easily able to spin its tires in first second and third gear. Primary Use: Commuting to work |
