My Suburban — Keeping this truck for the long haul. Waiting for the snow up in the hills and rain in the valleys. Good all around truck and would recommend to others. But you have to be aware of its history. I was lucky with this truck.

Cons

Wonderful! — This vehicle is excellent for travel! I've made many trips to NC in it with my 3 kids and brought back furniture and tons of other things! It seats 8 comfortably and the seats are easier to maneuver than that of a mini van. I've driven it in the snow and it drove like a charm!

Pros

Everything from power to looks is great

Cons

Only major problems GM installed that crappy 4L60E instead of the better 4L70E or 4L80E for power and weight handling

Pros

We purchased it new in 1997 and have driven it over 330,000 miles during the last 12 years.  It has been a great SUV for our family of 5.

Cons

Terrible gas mileage.  The original transmission was defective and Chevrolet would not resolve problem.  I had finally had tranny rebuilt at 125,000 miles - still shifts great with over 200,000 on the rebuilt transmission.  Went through a number of fuel pumps - learned not to let it run out of gas - burned up fuel pump every time.

300,000 Miles And Still Going. — Driven it on the beaches of Florida, Great Smoky Mountains (about 30 trips), pulled a camper many times, and slid down icy roads. It has withstood years of use and abuse. New engine at 225,000 because we just could not part with our Blue Burb. Now over 100k miles on the rebuilt engine and still rollin'.. Took around Altanta Motor Speedway a couple of years ago - my teenage son decided to see if she still could get up and go - he took it over 100 mph and it did fine - my wife about died. We have driven it off road, across sand dunes, around racetracks, and over mountains. We could not have had a better vehicle for raising our kids. Never have changed the struts or shocks so it now just bounces down the highway!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros

Powerful, roomy, nice to drive.

Cons

BRAKES!!!!!!!!

25

Does 0-60 Faster Than It'll Do 60-0, But I'd Trade It For Nothing Less Than A Cadillac Escalade Esv. — Pretty much the best vehicle of its time. It accelerates like a motherlover and the cruise is really smooth. It tows like a tractor, but it also steers like one. The brakes are the only performance related thing that really put me off about it, and they're REALLY bad. Only thing I've really had problems with maintenance wise so far is the battery. Guzzles gas like crazy, but the tank is so big you really don't need to worry about that very often. This is probably the best road trip vehicle in the world, and can with 700lbs of skiing supplies in the back, beat almost anything off the line.

Pros

Fast, towed amazing, 454 BIG BLOCK

Cons

454 mileage

97 K 2500 Suburban, 454/4l80e — With the 454, this truck was way faster than it should have been. But 11mpg on the freeway when you are going easy on it hurts.

Classic Suburbans, Built Like A Tank, Too Bad It Drives Like One Too! By Tom

Classic Suburbans rule! Slow, loud, handles like a brick, and stops as fast as it accelerates. Nothing better! Fun to drive but not so great for freeway use. Enough room inside to play basketball! Read More
