Pros

ROOMY with plenty of cargo and people space.

Cons

3.1 liter engine for this model always gives you an issue but usually cheap fix.

I Like It. — I like the low cost of repairs for this model. Even though the engine is infamous for little problems here and there, it's an overall good car. This . Is the second on of the same year I've owned and I admit I've grown to really like this type.

Pros

Power and comfort. Excellent power, quicker than most compacts and keeps up well with traffic. Hwy Gas mileage personal best is 8.2L/100km hwy! Excellent stereo, with two factory subwoofers! This car features a 6 way power driver seat, CD player with factory upgrade sound package, dual zone manual climate control! Power Locks, Mirrors, Keyless Entry with trunk release!

Easy to maintain, popular engine!

Cons

Floaty at times, common rust areas, short lived brakes.

1997 Chevrolet Lumina Ls Sedan — This car has decent power from a 3.1L v6 engine which produces about 160 hp. 0-60mph in about 9 seconds. It has the best lumbar support it is very supportive and comfortable. Perfect seating because you can seat 6. this car handles pretty well for quick cornering. Large Trunk so you can take lots of luggage for vacations. We have had it for 11 years and expect to keep it longer. No problems and only has 85,000km (2008) *Update* Have since replaced the 4L-60E transmission with a new unit at 118000kms Currently has 122950kms May 2013 Still love the car. Planning on fixing the common rust areas and a/c. Will keep this car on the road as long as possible! Love the car still! - May 2013

Its A Great Family Car. — Great family car, still runs like a charm and shines like a pearl. It has a little bit of understear at high speeds but it wasn't meant to be a performance car. I beat the crap out of it but it never stops putting out.

Pros

If you take care of her, she'll return the favor for a long time..

Cons

EVERYBODY HAS ONE!! They're quite popular..

Great Big Body Sedan W/ Slab Qualities.. (act Lyk U Kno) — The best part about this car was, though it was a Chevrolet, it really never gave me any problems. The LS had an awesome acceleration, like all Chevy's, that gave me a sexy launch off the line at a green light.. Only took about 30 bucks to fill her up and on a normal work/school week, I was more than content with the gas mileage.. I'd definitely buy another, if not the same one again.. It's a really easy car to keep clean because it doesn't have any random crevices or hard to reach spots.. Not to mention a pretty spacious back seat.. lol..

Cons

it doesnt have a CD player

Canadian Made — Its a car of good performance and lives up to the award winning Status that Luminas came to earn. This car itself was locked inside the GM Oshawa Car Plant during the strike of 1996. Dad bought it for mom and she gifted it to me.

Impressive — I just bought this car. I love everything about it. Drives smooth. Seems newer than it is. I feel as though I am driving a new car. Original owners kept this car clean and I am going to do the same.

Should Have Sold It Sooner — Requires a lot of keep up. I've found other reviews that share these common problems: 1) factory head gaskets give out at low mileage - this is even a service bulletin, but not a recall; 2) combination blinker/high beam switch has to be replaced when it cancells out your brake lights - not a recall either; 3) rack and pinion is a recall - got fixed once, then later had to replace on my cost. Requires on a regular basis new brakes, shocks and O2 sensor. Otherwise, never left me stranded anywhere. Strong body, spacious trunk, models with bench seat can seat up to 6 passengers.

Cons

1997 Chevy Lumina Ls 4 Door — Built like a Chevy. I've replaced spark plugs and wires and have done some brake work, but that's all I've had to do to this car. It is getting ready to break 178,000 miles and is still running strong. The only bad thing about this car is that the power window on the drivers' side stops working for a few seconds every now and then, but after a minute, it works again.....weird.

I Love The 1997 Chevy Lumina Sedan! — I have a '97 chevy lumina. got her at around 123,000 miles, for my first car. I absolutely love it! runs aresome. is fun to drive. and have beat my buddies '97 nissan maxima several times, street racing(: low maintenance. high gas mileage. plus, i'm putting in two 400 watt subs, and getting a 1,000 watt amp, just put on a spoiler, a new center console, have recaro bucket seats, and am getting chrome rims and a moonroof. Will keep this car till the day I die!

Overall Good Dependable Gm Vehicle — This car accelerates at an average rate but if you put it to the floor she'll still get up. The stock brakes arent the best but could always be swapped with a monte carlo to have 4 way disk and upgraded to ventilated disk. It gets very good gas mileage and most maintenance can be done at home. Its a very sharp looking car and very fun to drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
