Pros

It's a BMW! Best car ever. Ultra reliable and fast if you want it.

Cons

If you can't afford the petrol and insurance don't buy one.

Best Car I've Ever Had But I Can't Afford A New One, But I Will Do In The Future. — Does exactly what the brochure says. It's a driver's car. 142mph, 28mpg on long runs, only 18 around town, but you accept this with this sort of car. If you can't afford to run it don't buy it. Interior is comfortable, functional switches, ultra-reliable. Maintenance can be expensive but it never broke down in 17 years. Regular oil and anti-freeze changes essential. Alluminium head and cast iron bottom so watch the water levels. Fun? This is the best driver's car ever. Goes where you point it and never scares you.

Pros

Drives well. Interior is nice. Has leather seats, 6 disk DVD changer, good tires, stylish rims and no accidents.

Cons

Overheats and has minor dings and normal wear. I would love to restore every crack, nick, noise and tear but I have more passion than know how.

1997 Bmw 528i — I really like the weight of this car and the way it handles the road. I like the classic style and elegant presence at any age this car looks good! Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments.

Pros

12 years later the car looks and drives like new. Fabulous sound system

Cons

Very expensive maintenance and outdated error-infested main computer. Has cooling system problems every other year.

The Best Production Car In The World In 1997 — With a Dinan computer upgraded program, this particular BMW "topped out" at 165 mph several years ago on a very desolate stretch of Minnesota freeway. Probably could have wound up another 10 mph but I was topped out. Car is extremely maneuverable, agile and absolutely great in an all-out emergency accident avoidance situation. Better than the two-seater sports car my wife drives. At a 100, the BMW feels like 75 in most cars.

Hi Tech 1997 — In 1997 we owned this car and it was fully loaded. It even had navigation which impressed anyone who I took for a ride. Never been a fan of BMW but they do make a decent sports sedan with the right amount of high-end refinement. Of course in 1997 there were better cars that cost less. However this car still holds up and I wouldn't mind driving one again. I just hate the maintenance required and the cost of parts on BMWs.

comfort, build quality, looks and its a BMW

Cons

cooling system

Awesome If Your Cooling System Has Been Replaced After 100k Miles — Much more of a car than my last car, which was my last car, performs better, but is still a slow car, if you want something faster get a 540, but it is a fun car to drive compared to competition

Fun First Car — With work they are fun. Stock they float around the roads and they impress old men who enjoy golfing. They can be a pain to upkeep but its all fun in the end. Parts are costley for them and the are OBD II. You gotta pay to play!

Rear Wheel Drive, Not The Greatest Car To Drive In Wisconsin Winters. — Older "Beamer" but still drives like a sports car. Classic BMW looks. Gets good gas mileage for a sporty car. German engineering, some of the features are hard to figure out, and the Manual doesn't tell you much. Overall, though a great car.

Awsome — great overall car. heavy on fuel sometimes, but the performance is worth the extra few bucks. solid build, engine runs great. needs a bit of paint work, but body is immaculate other wise. fine german engineering for a 1997 model

Build

Cons

Handling

The Ultimate Driving Machine. — Its like drive a mobile living room. The smooth shifting ZF 5 speed, with the sachs sports clutch it a match made in heaven. The build quality is impeccable , the car refuses to squeak even over the most treacherous terrain. The car also has a timeless look and will likely be the last "classic" BMW.
