Pros

Great handling car, roomy and quiet. Engine is extremely reliable even at 225000 miles.

Cons

At it's current age, maintenance is becoming increasingly necessary.

Love The Car. — I bought the car with 180K miles 3 years ago. I have since ran that up to 225K miles without any major issues. At it's current age maintenance is frequent and necessary and I have replaced several suspension components, coolant reservoir which cracked, moon roof track, valve cover gasket, transmission shift switch, and other minor items.

Awsome — great overall car. heavy on fuel sometimes, but the performance is worth the extra few bucks. solid build, engine runs great. needs a bit of paint work, but body is immaculate other wise. fine german engineering for a 1997 model

Fun First Car — With work they are fun. Stock they float around the roads and they impress old men who enjoy golfing. They can be a pain to upkeep but its all fun in the end. Parts are costley for them and the are OBD II. You gotta pay to play!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

comfort, build quality, looks and its a BMW

Cons

cooling system

55

Awesome If Your Cooling System Has Been Replaced After 100k Miles — Much more of a car than my last car, which was my last car, performs better, but is still a slow car, if you want something faster get a 540, but it is a fun car to drive compared to competition

Pros

Drives well. Interior is nice. Has leather seats, 6 disk DVD changer, good tires, stylish rims and no accidents.

Cons

Overheats and has minor dings and normal wear. I would love to restore every crack, nick, noise and tear but I have more passion than know how.

1997 Bmw 528i — I really like the weight of this car and the way it handles the road. I like the classic style and elegant presence at any age this car looks good! Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments.

Pros

Smooth, Quiet, Spacious, Reliable, Fast

Cons

Most have high miles and can have electrical faults

1997 Bmw 5 Series 528i — Performance: Engine nice and lazy down in the revs but lots or power at 3k revs onwards, brakes very good. Handles very tight on the lowered suspension and wider tires. Build Quality: Very good. Appearance: Very nice, lots of M-Tech extras on it. Cost of Ownership: Not bad, 30MPG and cheap insurance. Fun Factor: Good fun, a good drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Up-to-date looks, great manual-box! Size is perfect. 46mm less width than its replacement, the E60, proves very crucial in terms of handling.

Cons

Starts to age, and performance deteriorates over time.

45

Ageing Executive Car — Once upon a time in the late 1990s, this car was king of the 'executive' car class. Handles much better than its rivals, namely Audi's A6 and Mercedes Benz's E-Klasse, with advanced features implemented to the car at such an early time. When new, handles beautifully, and engine runs very smoothly and very responsive. Top speed went up to its claimed figure of 232 km/h. But as time goes by, and prone to wear-and-tear problems, the once glorious car has aged. Top speed now is around 195-200 km/h, and acceleration is significantly reduced, but still is a charmer and pleasure to drive at such age!

Pros

car is amazing handler and sweet looks

Cons

speedometer is broken, horse power is a little on the low side

35

Sweet Sweet Beemer — accreration is a little on the down side, but the engine has 300k miles on it and it still starts and runs liike tis brand new. the car has hold its own through the years, however the front bumber its comeing off and little things such as the speedometer have stopped working. but other than that its a great driveing machien and it a blast to drive.
