1996 Volkswagen Sharan Review
Amongst the best at everything that's it supposed to be the best at
Gearbox made by Ford. Weak engine suspension.
1996 Volkswagen Sharan 1.9 Tdi 110 Hp — Performance - We're talking about a Sharan, that's a huge family car. "Performance" has to be looked at from that perspective. For a huge family car, this car performs excellent! The VW diesel engine (I drive the 110hp 1.9TDi) is capable of pickup op at a 1000 rpm, and still giving you a noticeable push in your back. Build Quality - Volkswagen, need I say more? VW is among the best on build quality. Appearance - I wouldn't say it is extremely good looking, or hot and exotic. But there are worse things driving around. Seriously, ever saw it next to a Renault Espace? The Renault is hidious! Cost of Ownership - Consumption is 7L/100km with normal driving. As for maintenance, The only "big" costs we've had so far was the broken airco. The gearbox is, well, deteriorating at the moment. But that's after 200000 km's! Fun Factor - right...

1996 Volkswagen Sharan Review
gets all the kids and suitcases in!
petrol and tyres cost too much!
Our 'boring' Car — apart from the fact that its a 'sensible' car, its costs too much in petrol! very reliable though! wouldnt really recommend to friends as not very economical but it has served a purpose! great for holidays!! doesnt get much road respect as people assume we crap drivers (i'm so not!)

A Bit Of Maintenance And It Should Be Good Value, But Thirsty
I think VW did a great job on the design and fit-out. It was sold as a Ford in the UK. The plastic hose fittings break down with heat and age (not good). Replacing the heater/ AC core requires remov... Read More
