Not the right shape for good sound from ICE, but then the engine sounds sooo good...

Why Hasn't Everyone Got One? — Fun every time you get in it, beautifully built, fantastic performance and handling and not too ridiculously expensive to run. The Targa roof gives you the best of open top running but without the security compromises and the TIPEC owners club is good fun too. Totally recommended! And if you think it's not hard core enough, my suggestion is to buy a crap everyday car, then only drive the Porsche for the good times. Then you'll never get anywhere near it's limits on the road and give yourself a thrill every time you use it.

Pros

One of the best handling cabriolets, appreciating in value

Cons

Not very fast

1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet — This is one of the last of the classic air-cooled 911's and rapidly becoming more collectable and valuable than the newer 996 water-cooled models. Its quite old fashioned in ergonomics and interior appearance, but once you get used to it its a great car. Not super-fast performance, but handles well enough for a cabriolet, especially if you fit a strut bar to stiffen the front. Bullet proof build quality.

Nitpick - getting in and out of the car is a acrobatic exercise.  But it *is* a sports car.

My Porsche — No dislikes . Lovve everything about it . I use it everyday for commuting to work, taking kids to school, going to groceries even to SAMS CLUB. What else do you want from a car. Okay maybe its not the best car for snow

Badass Toy For A Badss Boy. — Fast fun horrible gas mileage. What more could a guy want. It accelerates like a bat out of hell and it handles like a demon on rails. The interior is all business and nothing less. I am not sure why it has a back seat though.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

One Of The Last Of The Air-cooled 911s. Very Rare And Beautiful. Wow. — The last of the handmade air-cooled Porsches. The new ones may be faster, but the 993 series Porsches are the best cars they ever built.

Want A 911? — Buy 911 993 (1993-1997). Best car Porsche ever built. So much better looking then 996.

Nice Toy — Not at all practical but seriously fun to drive. I've only driven this car once but it was a pretty cool experience. Noisy, not extremely comfortable, but a real beast. Drive it before you die.

Best Looking 911 Ever! — only had this for a short while back in 2003, toally solid car, best built of all the 911's, wonderful aircooled motor and old school charm inside. a bit of a handful in the twisties and very physical to drive.
