Pros

Great mileage
Reliabile
Great for family drives / sunday drives
Price is decent, 1750 to 2400
Decent cargo

Cons

Parts become expensive after extensive repairs
Tires need to be balanced, thread gets eaten up fast (my car was aligned and was off by -0.01 on each)
Oil needs to be replaced / checked as much as possible
Take care of the car, it'll take care of you. :)

1996 Oldsmobile Ciera Sl (4dr) — Most of you guys out there don't think to much about these kind of cars but they are cheap, great on gas, and reliabile. Cargo is a small issue for those that want tons of space but the trunk space makes up for the loss of room inside the car. I managed to place two or three 20 gallon containers in the trunk alone, but one in the back seat. Gas wise, its a great car for any student, mind you the looks aren't top notch but the gas is what will save you money in the long haul. Parts for this car are somewhat cheap, which also makes it easier for the student, but there are some issues that need to be dealth with before buying this car. Most owners don't change the transmission fluid, which is a issue with this car because of its age, but make sure you do not lose power going up hills that's the first sign of transmission damage / fluid issue. Second biggest thing is the brake lines... I've had to replace my lines because they were rotted out, I paid 120 to get mine replaced at my college so I'm not sure what the price is for another shop. Fuel pump will need to be replaced at around, 65,000 miles or so... mine gave out at 68,000 but cheap fix. Heater core blew on me shortly after I got the car, so I didn't have to replace that but costed around 1,300. And now for the grand finale... the block head. For some reason the manifold will go at around 95,000 - 100,000 miles, I never had this issue yet but I have had a issue where the oil was leaking into the cyclinders.. (cracked cyclinder).. sorta pricey to replace but you could swap another motor into it for a mere 500 bucks. Now I know that list is somewhat chaos but honestly that comes with any older vehicle.

Its A Great Car And It Just Runs — I love my car. It gets great gas mileage down the road and it has the extra power I need to blow past a semi truck. It handles like a dream and is a really smooth ride. I love it

Love It — performance is great, the 3.1 v6 is really solid and powerful, 160 under the hood with 185 torques the cost of ownerships so far is just oil and gas, and it's a great car it's not an ugly car either.

Pros

Very reliable without any major performance problems at all. Very comfortable. Smooth ride.

Cons

Nothing although gas mileage and seats could be better. Could be fun if sport package came with the car.

Reliable Little Angel — I got the car at 45,000 miles on it. The 3100 V6 is economical and quiet, transmission shifts smooth. My greatgrandmother bought the car brand new in 1996. Although sport package should've come with the car anyway, it's a great reliable car to have to go to and from work.

My Best Investment — I just bought this car but the price was righ and I'm amazed at how well it still runs after 12 years. I have a feeling this will be the best car I've ever owned.

Pros

Hauls tons of stuff, seats 8 people, good highway mileage, reasonable power, comfortable, refuses to die.

Cons

Bad city mileage, terrible handling, bad under-hood design.

Perfect Car For A College Student. — Perfect blend of economy and utility. It can fit a twin-size mattress flat on the floor and can squeeze in 8 adults with seat belts for all. The rear-facing seat in the back is fun and more comfortable than you'd think. Reliability is very good, but things are slowly falling apart after 195,000 miles. My mileage has ranged from 13 to 33, usually around 20 in the city and 28 on the highway. It handles like an aquarium.
