Pros

V8 power, simple design, Infinity Gold stock stereo.

Cons

NP249 transfer case and Dana 44 aluminum rear axles are trouble spots with all V8 Grand Cherokees from 1993-1998.  Gas mileage?  If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Great For Its Time — The 1996 Grand Cherokee is an incredibly capable all-weather vehicle. With a 5.2L V8 motor, it's plenty quick to get where you need to go and haul most of what you need behind.

Pros

Great in the snow

Cons

Poor mileage and performance with six cylinder, delaminating paint

'96 Jeep Grand Cherokee — I like the versatility of the vehicle. I dislike the poor fuel mileage. The mid '90s paint is delaminating and comes off in sheets off the roof. With studded snow tires the Jeep handles winter weather well. Overall it's a good vehicle with decent build quality. The only problems have been the exhaust manifold and radiator.

Pros

Uber-capable, easy to work on, affordable parts, rugged design

Cons

So-so gas mileage (15-20), the 6cyl is reliable but weak at highway speeds.

Unbelivable Work Horse — Unlike most owners, I have had *no* major problems with this Jeep after 160K miles. Minor expected repairs only. This thing hauls very well as I tow 5000lbs often with it. I have also had 5-10 off-road trips with it where again I was very impressed with its capability. Decent interior room, yet still small enough to fit into tight parking spaces. I've been really pleased with this vehicle.

This Jeep Saved My Life — A crazy lady chose not to stop before entering the main rd ,and she came crashing into the side of my jeep. My daughter and I were pushed across the rd through two trees, a fence and came to a stop feet from a lake. The way the frame of Jeep is built saved us. Thank Jeep for making awesome vehicles, I can't wait tone day own another one.

Very Awesome — I love these Orvis editions more than any other Jeep out there. They are so tough and rugged yet still very luxurious.

Good Car Would Buy Another Jeep With The Inline 6 Engine — I dont really care for the look and how small it is for a mid size suv. But i would buy the car again they are kinda cheep and easy to work on by all means! All around good car

1996 Jeep Gc 5.4 Liter V8 All Time 4 Wheel Drive — Performance - it has performed great right up until we had to replace the engine. But then again I still can't complain because i have no clue how well the previous owners took care of it. Build Quality - so far the only repairs are the brakes, muffler, engine, and drag link Appearance - well the outer appearance is great, but once i took off the front bumper, there was evidence of the vehicle being in an accident. Cost of Ownership - its getting about 18 mpg and we paid $2500 for it Fun Factor - this is fun to drive but my only grip is that it handles too well in the snow lol. with it being all time 4 wheel drive it makes it hard to have fun lmao

The open rode feel you get even in the city is Awesome!

Cons

I do not like the spare wheel on inside trunk. Takes up needed space.

Black Beauty — What more is there to say. She revs up and drive like a semi-truck and purrs like a kitten on the road. Doesn't get any better than that. Gives you the feel of a big truck. With the V-8 it has in it, it sounds like it as well.
