1996 Ford F-350 4 Dr XL Crew Cab LB Review
ProsYou can carry 6 people comfortably (I fit 3 full size car seats in rear bench seat) and haul/pull whatever you desire. ConsYou will spend a car payment a month in gas and parking is nearly impossible in most lots.

Perfect For Construction Crew Or Family That Needs A Truck Bed For Things Like 4wheeler,etc. — 5.8L V8, 2WD, Automatic. Performance - Slow acceleration, feels heavy but power is there when you need it, will cruise highway just fine at 80mph. Hauled over 2500lbs of furniture with no bed sag and barely noticed the weight in the back. Towed friend's broken down suburban like it wasn't even there. Brakes soft. Handles like a big truck but leaves you feeling confident in the driveability of a massive machine. Parking is a nightmare. Like most 2wd trucks it doesn't do too well in mud or snow but the more aggresive tires helped some. Build Quality - It's going on 15 years old and almost 200K. Replaced exhaust manifolds, heater hose, battery terminals, serpatine belt and belt pulley...that's it. Could use a new exhaust from headers back due to rust/leaks but it doesn't really effect it. Exterior has held out like a tank. Paint has no cracks. Body has no rusting. Dash has some cracks but seats still perfect. Solid truck...well built. Appearance - Classic truck design. Tuff and functional. Added BFG AT KO's and a grill guard and it did wonders to the overall appearance. Cost of Ownership - Mainteance isn't bad. Oil change costs are higher due to larger V8 engine requiring more oil. Parts are readily available. The heavy expense is gas as this truck averages 10mpg. Right now gas is approx $2.90/gallon and it costs me about $100 to fill both tanks which nets me a range of approx 375 miles. Fun Factor - Not sporty but you feel like king of the road as vehicles tend to yeild to the mass of this truck. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsI would say if you can find one in good shape and not rotted out pick one up. ConsThe MPG suck. 11 to 12 at best.

I Would Keep It For A Work Ride. — Great work truck/tow rig and off road truck. The gas motor is not the best thing for a truck this size but the fact its a 5 speed makes up for it. The Granny First gear is great. Throw it in 4 LO and into First gear you will make it threw just about anything or move just about anything. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsI have to haul all 6 of my horses from Idaho Falls, ID.to Eastern Oregon, and the only bad part of the whole trip was the fuel mileage...But I am willing to sacrafice that for the pulling power and ride. ConsFuel mileage...only has 2 - 19 gallon tanks

My Awesome Mobile — Bought this for a reason. 4 doors for room,4x4 for Idaho weather, 1 ton for towing my 20 foot goose-neck trailer. Wish it had the 7.3, but I do love the EFI 460. Love the 4 speed w/ o/d and it not being a 5 spd. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

F-350 Review — Cant beat this big truck. Old but has lots of character and life left in it. Powerstroke diesels are prime candidates for waste vegetable oil conversions. This one may get it possibly next summer. Overall, great truck with lot of potential. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.) |
