Pros

Cheap reliable transport tool.

Cons

Electrics suck on this car. All electric motors fail.

Get The Cheapest Model, With The Fewest Electric Gadgets. — Light weight small car with excellent mileage, and quick to. On this 3 door model, you should watch out when you open the mighty barn doors on each side. With both doors fully open, it's much wider than it's long... ;o)

Pros

Practicality

Cons

Rattling noises every time you hit a bump

Ok — Good engine performance, poor handling. Poor build quality lots of squaks and rattles. Smart looking car inside and out. High servicing costs. Not a great fun car to drive. Very practical can fit 6 footers in front and back. Never use a Fiat dealer for your servicing, extortionate prices for labour.

Pros

Cheap insurence

Cons

cheap and nasty

A Cheap Run Around Car — i like the appearence of the car and its ability of being highly tuneable but as it is a fiat the build quality is queationable and with only a 1.2 engine it wasn't that quick but its not a bad car

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

good first car, easy to maintain, care free fun

Cons

poor top speed, can develop problems easily when driven to its limits

Good Little First Car — Brilliant first car. Can get up to 90 on a steep downward incline. Had it for a year and a half, eventually got into a very sorry state, developed a problem with the bearings, gears, firing sequence and exhaust but fun to drive and suprisingly nippy if you arent afraid to hurt it a little.

Pros

Easy to keep running and easy to modify
Easy to find parts for

Cons

Prone to head gasket failures
Better to the point where the best maintained are rare

Great Little Italian Car — Okies...I had a 1.2 8v Punto mk1 pushing out a "whopping" 75bhp. As an engine there are pretty decent, being a Fiat 'FIRE' engine means that parts are pretty easily available as pretty much any other 'FIRE' engine has parts to match...giving the choice of about 4 engine models in the scrapyard. The engines ARE prone to head gasket failures though which can be annoying. The car itself handles like a go-kart and seems quite nippy, surprisingly so for a 1.2 engine. Not a bad set of comforts inside considering the age of the car, electric windows and rev counter on the SX models, split rear seat on most models, the S model leaves something to be desired however. Also available as a 1.6 cabriolet and a 1.4 turbo model

Pros

Sportier looks than the Rover.

Cons

Flat spot, terrible handling, gasket problems.... I could go on and on!

My Second Car, Polly Punto. — Had a terrible flat spot in third gear, had gasket problems, didn't always start first time... but had purple cloth interior and felt sporty. Had a huge sub and amps in the boot, then some thieving gypsy broke in and stole them! Finally sold the car for £999, only £1 less than what I'd paid for it in the first place!

Pros

Easy Car

Cons

Basic and problematic

No Thanks — This goes hand in hand with the MG Metro...very heavy steering & its meant to have power steering!! OK for a first car I guess but the drive is very simple and basic unless you have a high spec. Experienced a lot of technical problems.
